Union minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari, has given a green signal to construct a 106-km road from Moradabad to Kotdwar, which will be broadened from the existing three to seven metres. The road will be a milestone for the development of villages of border areas. With the construction of the new route, the distance will be reduced from the present 160 km to 106 km and travel time will also be reduced to three hours.

SDO, PWD Najibabad, AK Agarwal, confirmed that the proposal to construct and broaden these roads has been approved by the central ministry. "The road will connect Moradabad with Kotdwar. A survey has also been started in this connection," he added. With the construction of the road, the industrial set up will get a major boost, thereby generating employment avenues for residents of the area.
