Offshore firms vying to build smart cities

    As many as 300 foreign companies from across 35 countries have become very aggressive to join hands in the Indian Smart City project of Pune. These firms will provide solutions with respect to traffic, garbage management, water supply, sanitation, and drainage. The companies along with consulates of various countries participated in a two-day exhibition-cum-seminar on Smart Cities, held recently. In the event, which was organised by Pune Municipal Corporation, these firms evinced willingness to join hands with the civic administration. They will work on the projects commissioned under the Smart Cities Mission. Those not working on the Smart City projects will be part of other civic projects, Civic Chief, Kunal Kumar said, adding that companies from Germany, Singapore, Belgium, UK, and US had set up stalls, where innovative technologies to mitigate problems, he added.
