    KMDA speeds up Rs. 7,600cr metro projects

    In its quest to provide complete connectivity for habitants across the city, Kolkata Metro Development Authority (KMDA) is cruising ahead with world class metro network with a length of 50 km and entailing an investment worth Rs. 12,000cr. The projects included a 17 km long Joka-BBD Bagh line via Majerhat at a cost of Rs 2,913cr, 32 km long-Dumdum Airport-New Garia line, costing Rs 4,260-cr and a 4 km Noapara-Barangar-Dakshineshwar line entailing an investment worth Rs 465cr. Adding to the momentum and to enhance passenger experience through innovative design and planning, the nodal agency has optimized light fittings and air-conditioning systems. Using special 3D lighting software, it gets the best position, angle, location of the fittings etc., to obtain desired lux levels. It also helps select the colour of the wall, roof, floor, and granite to obtain optimum light reflection factor, thereby saving on power consumption, said sources.
