LMRC awaits Rs. 3,502cr funding booster

    In a major financial booster to the mega Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) the contractor of the project is all set to start construction work on an underground metro corridor, spanning from Charbagh to KD Singh Babu Stadium. In this connection, an empowered team of the European Investment Bank is currently in city to review the progress of metro project and to finalize the formalities of a Rs 3,502-cr loan to LMRC, for building total 23 kms of North South corridor (Munshipulia to Amausi Airport). The construction, led by a consortium of a Turkish and Indian company, will make alternative arrangement for traffic in localities around Station road, Sachivalaya and MG road. The corridor, which may take as many as 36 months to be completed, would pass through metro stations of Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazratganj. The metro corporation has worked out a traffic diversion plan which will be implemented during the construction phase, managing director, Kumar Keshav said, adding that it is a design and build contract, the contractor will take 6 weeks' time for traffic surveys, study nearby buildings' architecture and risk assessment of environment among other things, he added.
