AP launches Rs. 1,000-cr Plastic Park

    In an attempt to provide world class plastic engineering training to youth, Andhra Pradesh govt. has decided to set up another Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) to train 5,000 plastic engineers and technicians every year, which will be set up in Anantapur district, said Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ananth Kumar while laying a stone for the CIPET at Surampalli near Vijayawada, at an investment of Rs. 1,000cr. He also announced an Agri-Plastic Park for Vijayawada region involving similar amount of investment on an area of 200-250 acres and also promised to set up a bulk drug park in Andhra Pradesh, which is one of the three bulk drug parks that the Central government has decided to set up in the country. One of them has already been sanctioned for Gujarat and promised to set up a plastic waste management centre in Vijayawada, and also a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Visakhapatnam. In this connection, the state government has already announced to make available 250 acres of land at Malavalli village of Bapulapadu Mandal in Krishna district for the Agri-Plastic Park, and 500 acres in Visakhapatnam for the Bulk Drug Park, he added.
