Goa goes for Rs. 280-cr road venture

    Goa Road Venture
The work on the bypass road, which will reduce the distance between Chaudi and Mashem by over 15 km entailing an investment worth Rs. 280-cr has begun on a war footing. The road will include three bridges, one each over the Talpona River (450m), the Galgibaga River (500m) and over the Mashem creek (130m). The project will have a 1.2 metre wide median in the centre and 1.5 metre wide footpaths on either side and will have three vehicular underpasses, 17 piped culverts and four box culverts. Requisite permissions from the Captain of Ports, Goa coastal zone management authority, water resources department and forests have been put in place. It is understood that the three bridges, one each over Talpona, Galgibaga and Maxem along with the four-lane expressway from Maxem to Char-Rasta are also the part of the project. The state government had earlier submitted a proposal to the Centre for three bridges in Canacona including twin bridges over rivers Galgibaga and Talpon and the work also includes a four-lane expressway from Maxem to Char-Rasta, said official sources.
