MMRDA fast tracks Rs. 6,208-cr metro project

    For the MMRDA, which has invited e-tenders for designing and constructing an elevated viaduct and 16 stations, three companies including J Kumar infra projects, NCC Infrastructure Holdings Limited and Simplex Infrastructure have emerged as the lowest bidders for the three packages for construction of 16.5-km-long Andheri (east)-Dahisar (east) Metro-7 corridor at a combined cost of Rs. 6,208cr. The scope of work includes the construction of the Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor on a cash contract model in three separate packages, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) U.P.S. Madan said, adding that the first package consists of designing and constructing of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations namely Andheri (east), Shankarwadi, JVLR Junction, Mahananda and New Ashok Nagar. Subsequently, the second package consisting of designing and constructing of an elevated viaduct and six elevated stations namely Aarey, Dindoshi, Pathanwadi, Pushpa Park, Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra. While, the third package consists of designing and constructing of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations namely Magathane, Devipada, National Park, Ovaripada and Dahisar (east).The quotation by the three consortiums is 10% lower of what was expected and three identified consortiums will now be assigned the work of designing and constructing the entire corridor and 16 stations in 30 months in the form of a work order which will be issued to the three consortiums' after the upcoming executive committee of MMRDA formally accepts the offer, he claimed.
