Pimpri in Pune secures Rs 3,200-cr under Amrut

    Accelerating the urban infra building process in the remote areas of the country, the Union government has cleared Rs. 3,200-cr for Pimpri Chinchwad in Pune area of Maharashtra under the Union government's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut). In addition, the area also gets multiple developmental works including a deer park in Talawade, 24X7 water supply for 60% of the area, and storm water drainage system for the city, Municipal Commissioner Rajeev Jadhav, said adding that the municipal corporation has to raise 50% of the funds. The union urban development ministry, and the state government will share 33.33% and 16.67% of the costs respectively. Under the water supply scheme, the local body has proposed projects for lifting 100 MLD water from Andra dam and construction of 120 MLD water treatment plant, lifting 167 MLD water from Bhama Askhed dam and construction of 200 MLD water treatment plant, and providing 24x7 water supply for 60% of the area at an investment worth Rs 1,000-cr and they are listed in the civic budget for 2016-17. Under Amrut, storm water canals network will be built along Indrayani and Pavana rivers, he added.
