Gurgaon gets Rs. 1,000cr infra projects

    Gurgaon Infra Projects
In a bid to address chronic congestion of traffic in Gurgaon, the highways ministry has approved an investment of Rs 1,000-cr to free up three major junctions like IFFCO Chowk, Signature Chowk and Rajiv Chowk on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway by making them signal free. These measures were long overdue considering the fact that road infrastructure is inadequate to disperse a growing traffic load efficiently. At IFFCO Chowk, two clover-leafs will be built across the expressway for seamless movement of traffic on MG Road. Since building underpass on this stretch is not feasible at the crossing, cloverleaves have been approved. The ministry has provisioned wider road to cater to the growing traffic. Moreover, one underpass will be built for traffic coming from Huda City Centre, another major choking point, towards Mehrauli near the Gurgaon Central Mall. At Signature Chowk, an underpass will be built across the expressway for movement of traffic between South City and Old Gurgaon. This will take care of the congestion at this point as traffic taking right turn can use the present road surface since there will be no traffic signal. Similarly, at Rajiv Chowk, a two-lane underpass will be built across the highway for traffic moving between Sohna Road and Old Gurgaon road and that a new access will be provided for huge number of vehicles coming from Sohna Road towards Hero Honda Chowk and another underpass has also been provisioned for traffic coming from Medanta hospital towards Delhi.
