UP unveils Rs. 1,937.73-cr e-way project

    In an attempt to improve the road network in the state, the state government has decided to upgrade state highways across regions and planned to build the Lucknow-Ballia Expressway, which was renamed as Samajwadi Purvanchal Expressway on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Model at an investment of Rs 19,437.73cr. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has been named as the nodal agency to execute the project in question. In another decision cabinet has also proposed to widen state highway 99 in Ghazipur at the proposed cost of Rs 232.29-cr and also the length of Farendra-Jarwal road which will be increased by 46.40 km at an investment of Rs 200cr. The road connecting Mandawar and Balawali through Dayalwala in Bijnore district would be widened and that the Cabinet has also approved widening and strengthening of highway near Azamgarh. These apart the state government has also approved renovation or construction of around a dozen highways in Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Bijnore, Sanauli, Gorakhpur and Deoria. The cabinet has also approved revised estimate for construction of Bhaurat dam in Lalitpur district at a cost of Rs 599.71cr, said official sources.
