To facilitate smooth flow of vehicular traffic from Delhi to the industrial area of Manesar in Haryana, the Haryana Urban Development Authority, has decided to construct a Greater Southern Peripheral Road (GSPR) crisscrossing the southern fringes of Gurgaon. The GSPR, which will start from Mehrauli in Delhi and connect NH-8 in Manesar near Industrial Model Township (IMT) Manesar via Sohna Road, is expected to reduce the traffic load on the section of NH-8 passing through Gurgaon. Currently, the NH-8 passing through Gurgaon, also known as Gurgaon-Jaipur expressway, is the only road connecting Delhi with Manesar industrial areas resulting in heavy traffic snarls adding to the hardship of road users. The GSPR will help people to reach Manesar easily and will reduce traffic load on the section of NH-8 in Gurgaon, district town planner (DTP) Sanjay Kumar said, detailing that a meeting was recently held in this regard with the NHAI recently and that the department is also going to discuss the construction of this road stretch with the Delhi government and National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). The land will be acquired by HUDA and handed over to the NHAI for construction of the road and that finanancial modalities of the project are being finalised and will be announced very shortly, he added.
