Govt launches road projects in M’rashtra

    The transport minister has recently launched three major road projects, including two critical, providing Shiradi Ghat direct connectivity to the coastal city and then to state capital by building a four-lane roads. While the first two packages involve widening of the NH-75 into a four-lane and that the third package involves strengthening and providing rigid pavement to the Bengaluru-Mangaluru section of the same highway, said official sources, claiming that the other package involves widening the Addahole (near Gundya) to Bantwal Cross section of NH 75 to a four-lane road as well and it also aimed at strengthening kms 216 to 237 stretch building quality pavement from the Shirady Ghat onwards. The projects are of critical importance to the coastal district as they provide an allweather road to the state capital and ensures seamless connectivity to the hinterland. With the stretch between BC Road and Surathkal already converted into a four-lane under the port connectivity project and work to convert the stretch between Talapady and Baindoor in to a four-lane and that the move would also improve road connectivity to Bengaluru in Karnataka, said official sources.
