Tata Steel fast tracks Rs. 25,000cr Odisha plant

    Nagpur Municipal Corporation Road Projects
In order to commission all the three phases of its mega steel plant in Odisha entailing an investment worth Rs. 25,000cr, Tata Steel is all set to initiate the integration of the commercial production of the first phase commanding a production capacity worth 3-million tons very shortly, said Vice President, Operations (Odisha) Rajiv Kumar, claiming that the integrated commissioning of all units for the first phase cost remains within the revised budget and even it could (be) lower, The company is gradually synchronising integrated steel plant components like blast furnace, coke oven, sinter plant, captive power units and hot rolling, among others in stages. The timeline and cost has been revised in 2011 in the wake of delay in land acquisition, which has pushed back the project by four years. With the Kalinganagar first phase, capacity of the steel major is expected to go up to 13 MT in India and that the emerging demand and market scenario could play a big role in the construction of the second phase of the project, he added.
