AP plans Rs. 3,184.15cr road infra network

    Accelerating the road building process across the state, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to take up an ambitious project of developing a road grid across the State entailing an investment worth Rs. 3,184.15cr, said official sources, elaborating that the projects envisages connecting gram panchayats with mandal headquarters through all weather roads and that the mandal headquarters will be connected to the respective district headquarters with two-lane roads and that the district headquarters, in turn, will be connected to each other with four/two-lane roads connecting the State capital through four/six-lane roads. Apart from this, all major ports, tourist places, industrial hubs, and airports would be connected to the nearest national highways with two-lane roads. Encouraged by the initiative taken by the state, the Central government has declared the roads from Kurnool and Anantapur to Amaravati as national highways and these roads would provide faster connectivity between Rayalaseema region and the proposed new state capital, they added.
