    MMRDA launches Rs. 200-cr flyovers

    In order to ensure hassle free movement of traffic in the area, the Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority has chalked out an ambitious plans including building elevated roads and flyovers at an estimated investment worth Rs. 200cr, said official sources claiming that the nodal agency has planned an e-way on the eastern highway's Chheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar East and that it has also come out with another bid to appoint consultancy services to oversee the infrastructure project. The plan is to finalise the bids and issue the same very shortly and commence construction work. The flyovers will be ready in 36 months. As a matter of fact, Chheda Nagar Junction is a stretch where the Eastern Freeway, Santacruz Chembur Link Road and Ghatkopar Mankhurd Link Road converge. The plan is to construct two flyovers and an elevated road to decongest the junction at Ghatkopar East. On this score, there will be a 680-m-long and three-lane-wide flyover worth Rs 57.66-cr from Sion towards Thane running parallel to the existing three-lane flyover. Another 1,240-metre-long, two-lane flyover of Rs 94.39 crore will run from above the existing Chheda Nagar flyover and carry traffic coming from Navi Mumbai towards Thane. A 650-m-long and two-lane elevated road Rs 52.28 crore is also planned to connect the existing Chheda Nagar over bridge with Amar Mahal Junction flyover.
