SuperProcure: Enabling Gender Inclusivity
We are looking at a future in which the logistics sector will embrace women's roles in leadership positions.
The logistics industry has transformed the role of women and the level of their engagement in this industry. Traditional logistics used to be a space where 80% of manpower was put into fieldwork, making it a male-dominated industry where women could not contribute much. However, as the industry embraced technology and transformed digitally, the involvement of women in the workforce has grown, with women taking on critical roles ranging from software development to on-field execution to planning and strategizing. In fact, advancements in technology have opened newer opportunities for both men and women.Navigating work-life balance is more about setting priorities.
Maintaining a work-life balance has become a much-discussed topic. For women especially, it is even more challenging since they are expected to meet social and familial responsibilities. From my experience, I would say that it’s more about setting one’s priorities right and managing time. I have been blessed with a supportive family. It’s not always smooth sailing, but with dedication and determination you can definitely achieve your career goals. To the young women considering a career in logistics, I would like to say that it’s an extremely interesting area of work that will challenge them to solve unique problems and achieve greater heights. Just believe in yourself and seek all the support you need to excel in your career and life.
The challenges encountered are competition and meeting client expectations.
As a woman, I haven't encountered any specific issues like gender bias from my colleagues, but the challenges I've faced have centered around competition and meeting client expectations. The best way to tackle them is by understanding your product well, identifying its unique selling points, and strategizing. One must understand the dynamics of the industry, the competition, and know your weak areas. With technology, my work has become more fulfilling as I can observe quantifiable improvements in business.
Technological advancements have enabled me to gain in-depth knowledge of logistics operations, including repetitive modules that contribute to higher TAT and costs. Helping organizations embrace digitalization, optimizing overall operations, and improving their productivity and profitability gives me immense pleasure when I see measurable results. This, in turn, has helped me create a clear roadmap towards achieving business goals for my clients. Guiding them through the challenges of transformation has been challenging and creates a sense of achievement within me.
Logistics has a 360-degree impact on businesses and the Indian economy, and one small failure in the logistics network can cause massive failure at some point in the business operations.
With the end-to-end digitalization of logistics processes, companies have achieved a 15% reduction in their logistics spending. This reduction has increased profitability and, in turn, positively impacted the national economy. Organizations have experienced up to a 300% increase in employee productivity with the automation of tasks such as freight negotiation, reallocation, verification, proof of delivery, and reconciliation according to contract terms.Automation eliminates freight accounting errors and grievances, helping to reduce Turnaround Time (TAT) at each step. With reduced TAT and integration with SAP and other internal software systems, organizations optimize inventory costs, adding to the bottomline. Needless to say, logistics has a 360-degree impact on businesses and the Indian economy.
