Snowman Logistics: Promoting Gender Diversity Through Training Programs
Logistics companies that empower women will exemplify gender diversity and inclusion.
To promote women's advancement in logistics, both the industry and government can implement initiatives like mentorship programs, training programs, equal representation in leadership roles, flexible work arrangements, networking events, and advocacy for gender diversity. By adopting these measures, women can contribute to a more inclusive and thriving logistics sector. At Snowman Logistics, where 7.4% of our workforce comprises women, we plan to increase the hiring of female employees and introduce programs and training specifically for women, serving as exemplary models for promoting gender diversity and inclusion within the logistics industry.
Balancing the demands of work with personal life is no easy feat.
Maintaining a work-life balance requires careful planning, effective time management, and the ability to delegate tasks when necessary. The unpredictable nature of the industry, such as late-night shifts and crises like temperature emergencies, requires strategies for fulfilling my responsibilities both at work and at home. The support of my husband and family members, and their willingness to step in and take care of household chores during times when work demands my full attention is invaluable. Knowing that I have a strong support system allows me to focus on my professional duties. Though I pursued an MBA in marketing & finance, I always wanted to work in logistics – and though this industry comes with a challenging workload and is demanding in nature, my passion for the field has kept me motivated.Companies must recognize and reward talent and performance regardless of gender.
For young women aspiring to enter the logistics field, I advise them to remain focused on their goals, be confident in their abilities, and seek mentorship from both male and female colleagues. Success in this industry is determined by hard work, determination, and skill, regardless of gender.Pay parity is an ongoing issue in logistics. Women should advocate for fair compensation and equal advancement opportunities. Companies must recognize and reward talent and performance regardless of gender, and implement policies that promote diversity and inclusion at all levels.
Late-night shifts and unexpected temperature crises demand immediate attention, especially when overseeing two warehouses nationwide among 47. Properly monitoring these sites is crucial. However, through perseverance, I've earned the respect and confidence of my seniors and colleagues who have taught me how to navigate difficult situations. They've instilled in me the importance of proactive problem solving, rather than dwelling on issues.
Their guidance has empowered me to handle situations independently and with confidence. Whether it's managing conflicts, addressing dispatch issues, or handling container loading problems, I've developed the ability to tackle challenges head-on, and learned valuable lessons in resilience and resourcefulness.
Technological innovations have enabled me to streamline processes, optimize supply chains, and provide exceptional service to our clients.
The implementation of the WBC Fleet GPS telematics software application has profoundly influenced my work. It helps me respond to emergency situations more quickly, access relevant data instantly, and smoothly monitor fleet movement on any map. It conveniently interfaces to navigate timelines and change playback speed, allowing for effective fleet monitoring, thereby enhancing our operations. The integration of WBC has proven invaluable, particularly during late hours when attending to warehouse issues from home is essential. With this technology, I can efficiently escalate and address issues remotely, ensuring smooth operations even outside traditional working hours.
Furthermore, advancements in AI-powered forecasting and IoT for real-time tracking have further optimized our processes, enabling us to anticipate and address challenges proactively. These tools not only enhance efficiency but also empower us to stay ahead in a competitive industry, fulfilling my ambition to drive innovation and excel in my role.

With determination and creativity, even the most daunting obstacles can be surmounted.
In 2014, while serving as the Key Account Manager for Burger King, I encountered a significant challenge on February 13th. Our delivery vehicle carrying buns was impounded due to an accident, just before the launch of Valentine's Day offers. With an urgent need to deliver fresh buns to our stores overnight, time was critical. Despite the setback, I acted swiftly, negotiating with the police to retrieve our perishable stock. Using innovation and resourcefulness, I organized a fleet of rickshaws to transport the buns to our stores, successfully delivering them to 15 locations before the deadline. This experience highlighted the importance of quick thinking and collaboration. As a result, at Snowman, in the face of adversity, our team demonstrated resilience, turning a potential disaster into a testament to our ability to overcome challenges.
