SEMW Matching itself with India's Growth
"As the economy of India is booming and infrastructure projects becoming bigger, we are quite confident of the demand for our products will increase day by day. "SEMW's products are one of the best examples of the combination and integration of engineering, electronic and hydraulic. We are engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing and sales of diesel pile hammer, hydraulic pile hammer and vibratory hammer, soil mixing wall earth auger, heavy-duty crane and diaphragm wall, among others," says Mr. Gong Xiugang, General Manager of SEMW, in an interaction with S.A Faridi.

SEMW, a 100% subsidiary of Shanghai Electric Company (SEC) started its operation with the production of Steam Hammer and over a period of time it has gained sufficient knowledge in not just making modern generation Air-Cool Diesel Impact Hammer but also unmatched and global best foundation equipment.

Revealing the history of the company Mr. Xiugang said, "Our mother group is SEC Group which is a very big group in China with an annual sale of over $20 billion. Today the group has gained immense expertise in nuclear energy, wind energy, thermal power plants and heavy industry including shipbuilding, elevators and escalators etc. Founded in 1921, this year we are celebrating its 90th anniversary, he added.

Expatiating on SEMW, he said, we are specialized in piling and foundation business both in design and manufacturing and have a long history and a lot of experience in this division. Our products are very specialized for professionalism. We are number one in China in foundation equipment and are very much enthusiastic over the internationalization of our company. Our main motto is to promote our product and Brand in the world market and this is the main reason behind our participation in different exhibitions and trade events across the world.

Elaborating on the product application areas, he informed, "Our equipment and services are being offered for big foundation construction projects like nuclear energy project, wind mill energy, power station, highways, heavy industry, highrise buildings, cross-sea Bridges etc. SEMW foundation and piling equipment are popular not just in the domestic market but are admired in international market as well. In India, our products are deployed at several power projects and other major construction sites and are successfully working there.

Dwelling on the expertise, he added, as the most professional pile-driving equipment producer, SEMW has been manufacturing its products through German know-how and technology from 1984 in China. SEMW Diesel Hammers are very reliable, efficient, environment-friendly and cost effective.

We have wide range of hammers in our basket and among them include diesel impact hammer, available in different series (one is the brim/trim guider which is on the simple lines design), the water cooled diesel hammer which is a part of old technology and the most advanced generation Air cooled diesel hammer. Today, we are the largest air cooled diesel hammer producer. Compared to the old technology, air cooled technology is cleaner, environment-friendly and low on fuel consumption.

Further he said we have several models in our basket and our regular R&D result in adding new models in our fleet year after year with more productive features and increased safety. Recently, we have introduced the biggest diesel hammer model D250 whose ground weight is over 25 ton in the world market. This hammer is widely used in the foundation of big infrastructure projects the world over, like steel plant, power plant, bridges, yards, and highrise buildings. In China, these hammers are being used for wind mill foundation and offshore piling.

Other than this, SEMW DZ500 electrical driven Vibro hammer is the most powerful driven source of sand compaction pile (SCP). It is being used in the world largest project HZMB (Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge) for the undersea soil improvement which is used before piles installment. SEMW DZ500 has also received order for nine units from CCCC Group for offshore piling project.

Explaining further, he informed that the key to SEMW's success is also due to the technical cooperation of the company with the globally leading pile-driving equipment producers NISSHA, Japan. The Hydraulic Pile Driving Rig manufactured with the Japanese technical support has proved its high-efficiency and users friendliness. The machine has high stability, high accuracy and is easy to maintain. Besides, the heavy-duty designed pile-driver equipped with flight auger and vibratory hammer. It is in fact, a high performance machine for building, bridge and ports.

Sharing his views on the engineering and productivity, he added, "Our products are one of the best examples of the combination and integration of engineering, electronic and hydraulic. If you compare our products with other manufacturers you will find they are more into copycats than doing R&D. We work closely with world's best manufacturers and always introduce next generation and innovative technology into our productline.

Today, we are specialist in foundation equipment manufacturing segment due to our strong R&D. Our field engineers work very closely with the end users of the machines, which helps us in getting feedback for doing innovation and adding value to our products by making our machines more productive, easy to operate and most importantly low owning and operating cost, he added.

Speaking about the sales and after sales services, he said, our philosophy is to bring value to the clients. We start with pre-sales training, operation training, general maintenance and repairs and then after sales services. For overseas marketing, we send our Chinese service engineers to the project sites. Also we have local service partners to provide the effective customer services in shortest possible time.

For overseas market, we have also local dealers and have established local warehouses to supply spare parts to the customers. In cases of new markets, we have a systematic and well organized spare parts warehousing network, which can supply the spare parts in seven days.

While talking about the potentials of Indian market he observed, as the economy of India is booming and infrastructure projects becoming bigger, we are quite confident of the demand for our products that will increase day by day. Our international marketing managers have visited India several times and currently are negotiating with some companies and soon we will have local distributor in India, he concluded.
