Mr. Abraj Vettuparampil - Managing Director, MASA India
Masa has been operating in India for quite some time. What has been the market response to your products and services?
Due to MASA global technological and market leadership, we obtained Indian industry's reverence well before starting office locally and have MASA machines running in India for many decades now. We have grown considerably since our Indian inception and currently establishing offices in major metros to provide improved and immediate attention to existing and potential customer's requirement.
What are Masa products available in India to serve country’s expanding construction industry?
We are serving the construction industry globally with state-of-the-art machines to produce mass production of building materials using less manual labor and environmental impact. MASA does not discriminate between countries. We make all machines matching international standards and supplied machines to more than 70 countries. We have wide range of machineries to produce blocks, pavers, kerbstones, AAC blocks, AAC panels, tiles, Fly ash bricks, and so on. We assure our customers international standard machinery with state-of-the-art technology and generations of service.
With current focus on green buildings, how would Masa machines help energy conservation and eco-friendliness manufacturing?
As I mentioned before, eco-friendliness is our key strength which also helped us in attaining our current market leadership in Europe, America and Middle East. Our 105 years of experience in machine design and marketing helped us to develop the best technology machines to produce eco-friendly building materials with less embodied energy and lifecycle impact to environment at minimal cost. MASA is also investing in India to improve industry awareness about environmental impact of conventional building materials manufacturing and how developed countries grown from it. Towards this purpose, we are also conducting a seminar during bC India exhibition in Mumbai in the exhibition centre conference hall sharing our experience with Indian industry, how technology can help manufacture building materials with less environmental impact. During the seminar, we will also be discussing effective use of industrial wastes in building materials manufacturing.
Despite its manifold advantages, why AAC manufacturing has not ushered in our country in a big way?
The main reason was the lack of awareness and the absence of masonry institutions educating the users. Also until recently, power plants were able to get licenses without having effective handling and processing facility for fly ash. Huge initial investment required for establishing AAC plants compared to other building products is also the reason for slowing AAC growth in India.
How do you foresee the prospects of setting up of Masa AAC plants in India as the country is preparing to set up more power plants?
MASA is supplying fly ash brick plants and AAC brick and panel plants for many years. Because of the increasing awareness about the advantages of AAC and fly ash brick and also because India is planning to have more coal power plants in the next decades, the requirement for fly ash brick plants and AAC plants will multitude in the near future. In many countries, AAC plants and products get government incentives because of its environment-friendly manufacturing and usage. Once this practice also comes to India, AAC products will have great demand.
A word about MASA, its marketing network and services.
As I mentioned, MASA is a 105-year old German company having more than 2000 machines in production currently in 70 countries. We have major market share in most parts of the world. In India, we have sold many machines and are consistently growing due to the reliability of our machines, outstanding services and technological leadership. Our customers are our salesmen. Their experience with MASA machines help us to sell more machines.
