Kobelco: Offers Tech-rich & Environment- Friendly Excavators & Cranes
Kobelco, E. Moses - Director & Executive, Vice President
Our innovative and tech-based sustainable solutions are backed by telematics, and on-field customer support, including operator upskilling so that their machines are used optimally.
Kobelco Construction Equipment, a subsidiary of Kobelco Construction Machinery, Japan, offers earthmovers and cranes that are tech-rich, environment-friendly, and customized for different jobsite conditions. The products are being made at its manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The company is well equipped to meet customer expectations in terms of service and parts with over 140 outlets in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Engineering excavators for infra development across different segments and applications
Like in every Excon, this year too we will display our world-class excavators and different attachments to make users “Think Beyond Excavation”. We will also be introducing new additions like the SK80 – our all-new 8-ton excavator and our SK35SR that comes with an AC cabin. Also, on display will be our SK30SR, SK140, SK220, SK220XDLC, SK380, and a range of attachments and genuine spare parts.Based on input from customers and field observations, our excavators are designed and developed to provide an efficient operating environment, increased productivity, reliability, and fuel efficiency. The machines are extremely durable because of their robust construction, effective filtration systems, etc and offer owners long-term benefits with their reduced operating and maintenance expenses.
Customers are recommended to seek the assistance of our dealers for optimal uptime, as they will guarantee regular maintenance and a rapid supply of parts and lubricants. Kobelco has been offering low-emission engines, with a much lower carbon footprint.
Benefits of telematics in machines
Our advanced technology machines have in-built features for tracking and monitory key performance parameters through telematics system ‘Geoscan’. This self-diagnostic tool warns the support staff via error codes so that they can troubleshoot any error in the machines, even remotely. IoT helps connect different parts of the machine to optimize productivity. A sizable collection of data that is produced from each machine is then properly handled and examined.Upskilling operator competency with skill and knowledge
We believe that the responsibility of the OEMs is not limited to providing reliable products, but it is equally important that they train the operators so that they can use the machines optimally.Skill training for competency varies from basic, medium, and advanced to the master level (train-the-trainers). The training involves operation in various applications, such as sand quarry, blue metal quarry, irrigation projects, mining projects, tunnel applications, etc. Training is provided starting from mini excavators of 3-tons to the gigantic excavators of up to 85-ton capacity. We supply special attachments based on customer applications that require special operating skills.
Promoting refurbished parts
We are also promoting our Recon parts through an exchange program where Kobelco genuine parts (mostly hydraulic components and engines) undergo disassembly, inspection, cleaning, calibration, and testing to ensure that they meet the same specifications and quality as our new Kobelco parts. These parts are available at our dealers under the Recon Exchange program.Outlook for construction sector
The 17% increase in budgetary allocation to the infrastructure sector and 15% increase in the budgetary allocation to NHAI are showing encouraging results in the form of pickup in the pace of infra projects. The current government is focusing on infrastructure development and if it is continued in 2024 then the domestic construction equipment sector in India is expected to experience a revenue growth of 10% in the fiscal year 2024. This growth is driven by the government’s focus on infrastructure development, including projects under the National Infrastructure Pipeline. The increased pace of road construction, which accounts for 40 per cent of the demand for construction equipment, augurs well for the sector’s growth. If all these planned investments and projects fall in place, then we are very optimistic about the industry growth in 2024.
