How can India’s construction industry become more efficient?
Every developed country has evolved by means of standardization and manufacturing as a means to attain efficiency. Civil construction is lagging in this area and would do well to adopt technology, and to a larger percentage to reduce dependency on labour and site-based inefficiencies and losses. For example, a 2 million sq.ft project being executed in the conventional way and to be completed in two years’ time would require 2500-3000 people at site, while Precast construction will require only 250 people in the factory and a 250-member team at site.
Project cost overrun is another area and also underbidding. The standardization of construction methodology should bring both of this under control so that construction becomes a predictable model.

How is your company gearing up to meet the forecasted demand in 2023-24?
We expect a healthy uptick in the demand for Precast technology and Precast construction. India is a growing market and Precast is still in a nascent stage. Growth of the segment will be determined by project demand, which seems to be on an uptrend and likely to continue in the fiscal year 2023-24.
Elematic is ready to provide the required support using our strong engineering resources. We are a 200-member team in India and can execute multiple projects efficiently.

What new solutions are you offering for customers to achieve more efficiency and productivity?
Elematic offers Precast Technology solutions for the Building, Industrial and Infra segments. We have technologies that help clients automate the production of walls, slabs, columns, beams, and stairs. In addition to help contractors, we have designed Portable Precast Plants that can be used for specific projects and be dismantled and reinstalled once the project is complete.
Precast is a viable option if developers evaluate their projects based on time savings, material quality, and durability. In fact, Precast technology has proven to be the most efficient, economical, and suitable construction technology. So, awareness of what this construction technology can do is the key in making Precast construction popular.

Concrete distribution systems, hollow core slab production, wall production, and Acotec are some of the new offerings the company will showcase at bauma CONEXPO India 2023.
What makes Precast construction sustainable, and an eco-friendly technology?
In order to minimize material usage (concrete & steel), the Construction industry can adopt Precast Technology as use of Hollow Core Slabs and Precast Prestressed Elements (as compared to cast in situ construction) leads to lesser emission and sustainability. Hence, Precast is essentially a green construction. In addition, the use of factory-made components and manufacturing practices reduce wastage to a minimum, control pollution at site, and ensure safety of labour due to mechanization.

As per our estimation, wastage during precast construction comes down drastically to 1% or even less. Use of slag cement and fly ash lead to further impressive gains towards sustainability. What’s more, Precast construction provides a longer life to buildings which will require minimum repair and maintenances and thus provide good living at a reasonable cost to the occupants.
What services and skilling is the company offering?
Along with our Precast technology services, we offer Turnkey Precast Factory installation, AMC, Structural and Mix design. We also supervise and train factory personnel during production and installation of the elements.

Skilled people are easy to train and retain in a factory environment than in a site arrangement. This is due to the fact that a factory has a more organized way of working. We provide training to our customers’ factory workers on manufacturing processes and installations at project sites.
