Dimitrov Krishnan, Volvo CE India
The CE industry of India is poised to grow three times its current size (to USD 25 billion) in a decade and become the second-largest construction industry in the world.
Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director

We have lined up an interesting mix of time-tested quality machines and brand-new equipment for Excon like our workhorse EC300DL BH – custom-built for quarries, and the game-changing Volvo EC480D Excavator with Vibro Ripper for mining.

The new model EC300DL BH is armed with heavy-duty lower frame and toughened undercarriage components, and is powered by the Volvo D7E engine. It is designed to deliver best-in-class productivity while ensuring lower operating costs. Quarry contractors can rely on its performance for years to generate significantly better returns on investment.

Also on display we have the Volvo EC480D Excavator with Vibro Ripper – a new introduction for mining industry. The EC480D Excavator is the most productive and efficient machine in its class, while the Vibro Ripper comes armed with noiseless ‘vibro-isolation’ technology. It protects the excavator from vibration and shock while delivering at least three times higher productivity compared to breakers. This model is surely going to be a game-changer in mining operations and set a new trend.

Alongside these, we are showcasing a few of our market favourites - the SD110C Soil Compactor, P7320 ABG Track Paver, L120H Wheel Loader, EC200D Excavator and DD90C Asphalt Compactor. These are new generation machines from Volvo CE, purpose-built for the Indian Market. They are all technology-driven, very operator friendly, most productive, and highly fuel-efficient, and have a proven track record with customers across the country. They set new benchmarks in safety, reliability and efficiency.

All our machines conform to CEV IV emission norms reflecting Volvo CE’s commitment to environment and sustainability.
Every machine is configured and manufactured keeping India-centric projects and working conditions in mind. In our R&D, there is a sharp focus on two areas: high productivity and machine uptime with fuel efficiency, stable hydraulics system, and easy maneuvrability for a host of applications; and the other focus is on the cabin space in the machine. Combining technology with aesthetics, the cabin features adjustable seats with armrests and footrest, easy-to-reach machine controls, vital machine information display on ready view and a calibrated distribution of storage and space, to ensure optimum operator comfort and safety.

ICEMA and CII are working closely with both Central and State Governments to address and overcome challenges being faced by small developers and independent contractors.
The last two years have been most challenging for the industry, particularly for small developers and independent contractors, who were the worst hit during the pandemic. Industry bodies like The Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA) & Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is working closely with both Central and State Governments to address and overcome challenges faced due to rising commodity prices, supply chain disruptions and cash flow crunch in the market.

ICEMA is also looking to attract technology investments to scale up local manufacturing of construction equipment and components and create sustained demand in the industry for years to come.

Infrastructure sector is a key driver of the Indian economy and enjoys intense focus from the Government.
The Government’s strong focus on infra development is clearly visible in policies like National Monetisation Pipeline and National Infrastructure Pipeline. The announcement of K V Kamath as Chairman of National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) and concerted efforts to commence bank operations from Q1 of this financial year are steps in the right direction.
