Debasis Bhattacharya, Vice President
Debasis Bhattacharya, Vice President, informs that in FY 23-24, the company is anticipating an increase in sales by about 20% across all its product categories viz. self-loading concrete mixers, batching plants, and concrete pumps, and is geared up to meet demand with its range of newly developed products and solutions.

What will be the highlights of product display at bauma Conexpo India 2023?
Keeping pace with the changing requirements of our customers, we have designed and developed new products that will increase machine productivity and lower customers’ operational costs. We will display the following at bauma Conexpo India:

30-meter boom pump: The Ajax 30-meter pump is the first of its kind in the Indian market. It is suitable for 4/2 chassis, offering an optimized boom length of 30-meters. As a convenient (alternative) solution to the conventional 36-meter boom, it can replace 90% of the applications of the conventional booms, with 25-30% reduced ownership and operation costs. Ajax is the only manufacturer to offer 25 and 30-meter booms on the 4/2 chassis, which give customers an initial low investment solution.

Self-propelled boom pump: This is a complete solution built on Ajax’s own chassis with 4x4 transmission, 3-way steering, a lightweight compact design, and a fuel-efficient engine. The 25m Boom Pump mounted on this chassis has a revolutionary design that can utilize the full boom length to access unreachable spaces in less accessible areas and deliver concrete effectively. Its smaller tight turning radius of 5.5 m is the major differentiator between the conventional boom pump, as it enables better manoeuvrability in confined sites.

ARGO 3500: This new variant is a testimony of Ajax R&D and innovation. The 3.5 m³ per batch SLCM is designed with dual engine and is the first of its kind in India’s CE Industry, provides lower operation and maintenance cost per m³ of production of concrete. The machine is powered by dual engine of 49.5 hp- each conforming to BS III norms.

Debasis Bhattacharya, Vice President

How is Ajax geared up to meet the anticipated increase in sales in FY 2023-24 in view of the ongoing and upcoming big ticket infra projects?
The key infrastructure projects announced by the Government will have a positive impact on the CE industry. We at Ajax are optimistic of the growth of the CE Industry in FY 23-24; and are expecting growth of about 20% across all the product categories viz. self-loading concrete mixers, batching plants, and concrete pumps.

We offer complete 360 next-gen solutions to customers to ensure optimum availability of machines and are catering to their sales and after-sales requirements through a strong network of 35+ dealers, 20+ service centres, and 100 touch points. We have a full-fledged team of skilled engineers for handling both preventive and reactive maintenance on site during emergencies. To ensure round-the-clock service and support, customers can reach our 24x7 customer care.

Ajax also has a significant presence in international markets like the SAARC, Middle East, Far East, and in some African countries.

Debasis Bhattacharya, Vice President

What measures is Ajax taking to reduce wastage and carbon emissions in its manufacturing processes?
Ajax has been certified for its environmental management system (EMS) ISO 14001:2015 for being an environmentally conscious company. The company is working towards energy conservation and has installed a rooftop solar PV system at its corporate office; it is saving the company up to one lakh units of electricity every year. The solar system has been installed at its manufacturing units also. Ajax also holds a quality management system (QMS) certificate ISO 9001:2015.

Machine performance versus cost: can OEMs strike a balance between the two to attract buyers?
There are two types of costs: one is the initial investment and the other one is the operating cost. Over the years, we have emerged as a ‘360° Concreting Solution Provider’ by delivering cost-optimised products with state-of-the-art technology, giving value and meeting customers’ stated and unstated needs.

Our products and solutions have positioned as the world’s largest manufacturer of SLCM, and we have expanded our products over the years to give advanced concreting solutions.

What training is Ajax giving operators and technicians on its advanced machines that have automation and digitalization?
India is in dire need for skill-oriented education to boost employability, especially in view of the rampant growth of new technologies. To bolster the initiative of Skill India (NSDC), under its CSR program, Ajax is conducting a Vocational Skill Development Training Program for empowering rural, semi-urban, and urban youths with the required skill sets. On completion, the training assures 100% job opportunity with our customers and dealers.

For India’s construction to be at par with world standards and to become the 2nd largest industry in the world by 2030, what are the grey areas that the CE fraternity and government should look at?
India is poised to become the second largest player in the CE Industry space by 2030 with the impetus given by the Government’s ambitious Infrastructure development plans like the National Bank for Financing, Gati Shakti, NIP, etc. With an emphasis on indigenization, businesses can fulfil domestic requirements with tailored and cost-effective solutions.

Bharatmala project, the second-largest highways construction project in India, is aimed at improving connectivity, especially along economic corridors, border areas and far-flung regions. The project also focuses on optimizing efficiencies in freight and passenger movements by bridging critical infrastructure gaps. Speeding up approval processes to enable quicker execution will help the concrete industry regain its pace of growth.
