The market for various types of cranes has been growing in India and more players are entering into this area. Apart from construction–what other sectors are leading the growth in the deployment of cranes in various projects?
There is a general perception that cranes are used only in construction industry and this industry drives growth of crane market. In fact, our cranes are used for material handling purposes. To some extent, construction industry propels the growth of crane market is correct but at the same time, there are other industries such as mining, ports and ship breaking etc. We have one customer in south who uses our cranes for loading/unloading of granite in ports.

Recently, Delhi major construction sites have witnessed crane lashing due to crane malfunctioning resulting in accidents. Was this malfunctioning due to inherent design and engineering faults or faults in handling and operation of cranes? As an experienced player in the manufacture of crane for nearly three decades, how can your company play a pivotal role in sensitizing safe crane operation and handling at sites?
Instead of commenting on whose fault it was better to discuss how ABG Cranes ensure safety of crane operations. There are two ways to ensure safety, one is to use upgraded safety devices and other is to ensure that the safety devices are made up of quality products.

We at ABG Cranes ensure this safety devices.
  • Safe load indicator (with overload protection/ cut off function),
  • Boom over-hoist prevention device,
  • LCD multi display,
  • Ultimate stop function for boom over-hoist,
  • External lamp for over-load alarm,
  • Function lock lever,
  • Mechanical drum lock pawl (main, aux. and boom hoist),
  • Mechanical swing lock pin (four position),
  • Swing parking brake,
  • Counter balance valves in all functions.
Many cranes won't give Safe load indicator with full features even if some does it will be home make which won't match with industry experts in SLI. We outsource our SLI to proven vendor with proper local support.

How would you look at the growth carve in the next three–four years, given the inherent strong fundamentals at your disposal?
We are expecting a growth of 20-30% in next five years for Indian crawler crane market and anticipating to capture a market share of 20-25%.
