The mining and tunnelling segments could see double digit rise in demand for equipment.

The developments in road infrastructure and the focus of the Central government on further improving connectivity to all corners of India, implies that the outlook for the CE industry will be positive for the next couple of years. The mining and tunnelling segment will also witness an upsurge in requirement of equipment.

By training our manpower, we are enabling them to make optimum use of digitization and automation.

Epiroc has always been a leader in incorporating advance systems and automation in its machinery and for maintenance practices. Our new equipment is available with GPS, automatic track system in mine trucks, dust protection system and intelligent protection in hydraulic breakers. Moreover, there are numerous benefits such as lower fuel consumption, less downtime, higher availability and utilization of equipment, all of which contribute to reduced expenditure for the customer.

With the advent of automation and digitalization we have been very aggressive in training our manpower at sites at no extra cost. The training programs have been very successful in getting the jobs done in the most efficient way.

We plan to augment production of different ranges of hydraulic breakers and attachments.

Our Nashik production unit is one of Epiroc’s largest, and apart from the fact that it assembles and produces equipment for almost every segment, it has been very instrumental in producing hydraulic breakers and mine trucks. This has enabled us to cope up with immediate and on-the-spot deliveries of equipment and spare parts to customers. We now have plans to augment production of different ranges of hydraulic breakers and a few other attachments to cater to the increased demand.

Our equipment is known for reliability, productivity, and longevity, because of the high-quality components that we use. This gives us a competitive edge and our machines have higher availability. Lesser components in our hydraulic breakers combined with automation is leading to higher productivity, making the job easier for the operator and more profitable for the owner of our machines.

We invest in R&D to make our products more superior than that of our competitors.

Epiroc has always accepted challenges and led from the front in technological developments and advancements. Yes, there is stiff competition, but it is an inspiration for us to stay ahead of our competitors, and a big reason why we invest in research and development as we want to make our products more superior than our peers competing with us.

We have made many advancements in the products and solutions that we have invented so far, and explained how the premium solution work much better than the existing technology being used. The premium technology that we have incorporated in the products leads to higher productivity, more reliability, and reduces cost of maintenance, making the products financially viable for any project.

The volatility in the Indian currency is a very challenging situation.

Despite the challenges, we have gone ahead to work on the dream of our PM’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. We are focussing on the segments which require products that are manufactured in India. The quarry segment offers us the biggest opportunity to promote such products and we have been successful in making breakers for the 20-ton class of excavators and backhoe loaders. We have been working for a project now on how to obtain market share in rental segment that carries a substantial weightage in the attachment industry.

We will make specialized products for the rental segment and for the South Asian countries.

We may claim to be a success in ownership-based projects, however, a substantial part of consumers are still hirers, and we are yet to carve out a niche in this segment. We have invested in making a few products applicable to this segment, and we want to have tie-ups with OEMs for our excavators once we come up with a product especially made for the hirer segment.

For existing customers, we are making our products better in terms of ergonomics and productivity. Our new products and upgrades in the premium range have lesser service weight, less components, lower downtime, and higher productivity than their predecessors.

We have a 26 business partners across India and may look for further channel partners once we come with specialized products for the rental segment and for the new territories in South Asian countries.

Plans for exporting Epiroc products from our Indian manufacturing base to low-cost countries is still on the radar as a long-term strategy, but our focus at present is on the Indian infrastructure and South Asian countries.
