Where the CE Industry Congregates

Please give an update on the expected number of exhibitors and visitors, and foreign country pavilions.

This year will see the fourth edition of bauma CONEXPO INDIA being held in Gurgaon from December 11 – 14, 2018. The event has seen a remarkable 30% growth over the last edition in terms of exhibition space and the anticipated number of exhibitors and visitors.

The overall mood in the Indian market is upbeat and indicates a positive trend. Country pavilions will include that of Germany, China, and Spain, and we have confirmed participation of exhibitors from 30 countries. Once again, the international flavor will be strong, and it will bring more variety and innovativeness.

What are your strategies to attract more (quality) visitors from India and abroad?

bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2018 is set to be the largest event for the bauma conexpo brand in terms of exhibiting companies and space. But bringing the right mix of exhibitors is the first and vital step to attract relevant delegates, buyers and industry stalwarts. This is our top priority and our efforts to accomplish the quality and number of visitors is well underway.

We are conducting roadshows across the country and reaching out to key buyer segments, including contractors and end-users; as well as the decision makers and purchase managers of the exhibiting companies. We have visited Sri Lanka where we met several associations of the construction industry and we are optimistic that many well-established and strong delegations will be coming to our show this year. Our bauma network with its worldwide offices will also bring in international visitors and drive participation of country delegations. Our representations in countries outside India are making this possible.

For the first time, we have the support of over 30 different national and international associations and over 20 media partners. A special thanks goes out to NBM&CW magazine for its consistent support and cooperation as our sole official media partner. 2018 is a special year for bauma CONEXPO INDIA and with all the collective promotions, the show is going to be a huge success for all the stakeholders.

Please elaborate on your new ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ planned for this year’s event.

The ‘Buyer-Seller Meet’ is our new initiative to pre-arrange focused meetings with predefined objectives and with serious players. The forum has been very successful in all exhibitions we run in India, and now we are introducing it at bCI 2018. The buyer seller meetings will be planned ‘before’ the show and organized ‘during’ the event to enhance the ROI (return on investment) for exhibitors and ROTI (return on time invested) for the visitors/buyers.

In a show as large as bauma CONEXPO INDIA, hosting pre-planned meetings help in bringing visitors and exhibitors on a shared platform for business discussions. I would like to appeal to your readers to register themselves and make use of this forum, which is being offered without any fee.

What about other programs planned concurrently at the show?

bauma CONEXPO INDIA encompasses the entire range of construction equipment and building material machines, hence, visitors can expect to see the full range of equipment including components and accessories.

Conference programs have been planned to cover various themes and sectors, for instance, we will be organizing a conference on ‘Transportation Infrastructure’ for the first time; it will cover roads, urban transportation and the railways, all of which are driving demand in the CE industry. The conference will deliberate on the latest trends and challenges and discuss the way forward.

Our partner association – iCEMA - will hold a conference on the latest technologies and financing. The renting industry is undergoing a transformation as it is seeing heavy demand and scope for growth, and this scenario will be discussed by CERA (Construction Equipment Rental Association). Overall, we will have more than half a dozen concurrent programs aligned with the fair.

How will the bauma CONEXPO INDIA cooperation agreement with iCEMA benefit the CE industry?

iCEMA, as the largest association for the construction machinery sector in India, acts as a strong link between the industry and government’s decision makers, as it campaigns for growth and development of the CE industry.

The construction machinery market in India is seeing a positive trend, primarily on account of the increase in road construction and infrastructure development. The partnership is a logical step to promote the transfer of technical know-how and development of infrastructure in India. It will enable us to examine and recognize trends and solutions for the Indian market and address them at the show.

The synergies of two strong partners will definitely benefit exhibitors and visitors, as together we can expand and strengthen the trade fair, and make it one of the most important platforms for industry stakeholders and the government in India. iCEMA also helps in giving shape to various government initiatives such as skilling of human resources through IESC.

The collaboration with iCEMA is on a global level and visible at bauma cluster shows and at CONEXPO CON/AGG in Las Vegas organized by American Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). As per the agreement, the two partners are jointly addressing issues in the CE industry and collaborating on ways to meet the demands of the exhibitors and visitors, much before the start of the show. In fact, the partnership with iCEMA has been very encouraging and is becoming stronger with each edition.

What steps are being taken to ensure security, smooth traffic flow, transportation, and accommodation for exhibitors and visitors?

As an organizer, the security and safety of our participants is a prime concern. We work very closely with the local traffic and the police, and even depute private security personnel to ensure safety as well as control the traffic for smooth operations.

The venue is strategically located with many hotels in the vicinity and good road and metro connectivity. The details are already up on our website through the link of our official travel partner who will take care of the travel needs of the exhibitors and visitors. Based on our learnings from the previous event, we will take every possible step to minimize any problems experienced by the participants and visitors.

How is the Indian CE industry evolving with respect to mechanization, technological know-how, quality control as per global standards, R&D, and manufacturing skills?

India’s equipment quality standards and features are matching global standards as customers are becoming more demanding. This, in turn, is driving innovativeness and upgradations in the equipment being developed for the Indian market.

Advanced telematics, IOT, predictive maintenance etc are now becoming the norm in India. For instance, the Bharat Stage IV norms have brought new emission technologies, and going forward, we may see alternate, eco-friendly fuels in the construction vehicles and in earthmoving machines. There are global companies that have made India their manufacturing hub for catering to their export markets; which has also brought in global standards and technical know-how to India.

What kind of positive impact does a show like bauma CONEXPO INDIA have on the CE industry?

bauma CONEXPO INDIA is a very effective platform for the CE industry as industry professionals and company representatives throng the venue to see the latest innovations of global brands, and examine first-hand the new products being showcased. It is a platform for participating companies to meet their customers and find potential clients, to share knowledge and information on market trends.

The trade show fosters business discussions, negotiations and transactions by OEMs and by finance companies, and enables sourcing of equipment and new technologies as it showcases the latest products and solutions from all over the world. As a business platform, it gives a comprehensive view of India’s CE industry and provides an impetus for business growth as it facilitates business deals or intent. Sometimes, the results are immediate; sometimes it may take a few months to materialize as the stakes are very high.
