"Demand for crawler lattice boom cranes has been showing signs of revival since the second half of July 2018," said Amit Nandedkar, GM - Sales & Marketing, Kobelco Construction Equipment India. "We are seeing increasing deployment of our cranes in both onshore and offshore projects, such as the upcoming Mumbai Transharbor Link project (MTHL). Accordingly, we will be indexing our product support in line with the application requirements of our i-series crawler cranes that are made in India."

Kobelco has delivered 5 units of its CKL 2600-I to L&T ,all the cranes delivered have a freefall arrangement And 13 units (four 260-ton, four 150-ton, five 100-ton) to Tata Projects-Daewoo JV through rental companies working on the MTHL project.

The company has dedicated trained engineers who have been trained in Japan to impart information to customers on the operation and maintenance of the cranes, more so in marine applications. Service engineers are also available 24x7 to service and support the cranes.

According to Nandedkar, there is a revival of interest from crane rental agencies to acquire new cranes and have better profit margins. This is because an increasing number of end-users are looking for new cranes for better and more reliable performance of the cranes and higher productivity. Kobelco has booked orders for 45 units of 100-150 and 260 ton cranes from several rental agencies, which will be delivered during FY 2018-19.
