Volvo Penta broadens business horizon
To broaden its footprint in the construction equipment sector and monetize its new assembly line at its Pithampur facility, Volvo Penta is looking at developing a closer engineering alliance with its customers. Mr. Miron Thoms, Vice President & Head of Volvo Penta India and Mr. R Sethumadhavan, Director, Industrial Segment, Volvo Penta India, said, “We want to deliver projects with a close co-engineering alliance with OEM customers so that we can jointly develop solutions based on customer needs, while taking into consideration critical aspects like engine performance, ease of installation, flexibility, robustness, and ease of maintenance. There will be a strong emphasis on achieving higher total lifecycle of the machines, backed by prompt after-sales and customer support to the OEMs.”
“We will be targeting construction, material handling, and will also look closely at the captive power sector for stationary mineral processing plants. Our focus is on applications other than Volvo Group products in which Volvo CE and Volvo Trucks already holds a strong position in India.”
They informed that following the successful performance of their 8-litre D8 engines for Tractors India Limited’s 80-ton mobile crane, which delivers higher power at lower rpm with best in class efficiency, productivity and fuel consumption, the company is in talks with TIL for their range of other crane models.
In order to deliver higher product lifecycles, they will further strengthen their White, Blue, Silver, and Gold service agreements, 24x7 Volvo Penta Action Service, engine condition monitoring, oil sample analysis, and their service touch points. Volvo Penta has dealers in 62 locations with 85+ touch points across India.
