SKF: Offers superb bearing seals solutions for OEM makers
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Shishir Joshipura, Country Head, SKF India Ltd said, “Our Technical Press Day initiative showcases SKF’s knowledge engineering capabilities and the application to manufacture innovative and energy efficient solutions.”
In totality, SKF’s hi-tech and innovative products and technology will go long way helping Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) matching heightened demands for greater productivity, reliability and safety in their challenging applications. Its offering to the entire wheel end units for drive wheels patented sealing products and novel lubrication solutions for hydraulic hammers are sufficient instances of the extensive range of products. “We have identified SKF products and services that will make a difference in performance and add value for Indian OEMs and their customers. For the OEM, SKF solutions can help reduce assembly times and improve machine operations. These innovative solutions can increases productivity and provide other benefits for end users, including lower total cost of operation achieved from increased reliability, reduced environmental impact and increased operator safety,” explains Victoria van Camp, Global Segment Manager, SKF Off-highway Cluster.
In this one-day event, SKF’s segment experts presented the latest solutions for automotive, metal, mining & cement, power, material handling, construction equipment and renewable energy industry segments.
SKF displayed its next generation new self-aligning solution, SE Bearing Housing which is a more reliable, flexible solution for mounted bearing applications and have been designed matching specific customers requirements across industrial applications including construction, material handling, metals, mining and cement and will be available in various sizes with special design features adding to the service life of the bearing entailing reduced maintenance cost and related downtimes and ensures low grease consumption.
“In fact, SKF has pioneered innumerable major advances in wheel end technology with the invention of automobile and this has also largely been used in the construction sector. With expertise not only in bearings but also in seals, lubrication, and electronics integrated into mechanical parts to control machine agility, SKF is able to look at wheel-end technology from a systems viewpoint. The result is improved functionality, reliability, efficiency, and safety; plus, our virtual testing capability shortens the time to market,” notes Van Camp.
SKF Mudblock and SKF Trackstar are the only two varieties of seals specifically manufactured for the construction industry. It is increasingly used in wheel end applications and front and rear axles where the requirements are to provide increased life under harsh conditions and to ensure the exclusion of external contamination as it integrates both seal and counter face with an integrated sleeve for the sealing lip thereby reducing the need for costly shaft machining.
For the OEMs, the Hydraulic Drive Lubricator delivers the benefits of automated lubrication to end users in a cost effective way that is simple to integrate into new and current machine designs. The lubricator is mounted directly onto the tool and connected to the machine’s existing hydraulic system and has been equipped with a standard thread cartridge that is very easy and convenient for operators to replace. Its technical highlights lies in its patented, sophisticated drive system as it has greater capability to withstand dirt, dust, hard jolts and vibrations. In addition, the lubricator can be used to more than just hydraulic hammers including the attachments and additional tools for construction machinery, like demolition grapples and screening buckets do not have their own power supply and are hydraulically driven and have points requiring lubrication, he concluded.
