Bonfiglioli's Gearboxes For Excavators & Winch Drives For Tower Cranes
Informed Kennady V Kaippally, Country Manager, Bonfiglioli Transmissions, “The new 710 C gearbox is made at our Indian facility. Our aim is to meet local application needs for excavators, where we have got a sizeable business presence in the Indian OEM market. The 710 C gearbox is a cost-effective product with a longer lifecycle, and it delivers faster duty cycles with live and dead loads.”
Bonfiglioli’s global R&D center in Italy is facilitating product developments across various industry segments such as off-highway construction equipment, mineral processing, mobility, wind industry, mobile, crawler and tower cranes. The company plans to deploy its global research and development expertise for Indian design and product development.

“Since our focus is on addressing Indian application needs, we will harness the global R&D expertise for developing Indian products backed by our R&D center in Pune. The inputs gathered will be used to come up with solutions that will address applications requirements across the industry segments served by Bonfiglioli, chiefly track drives and mobility segments,” added Kaippally.
Fabio Campana, Product Marketing Director, Mobile and Wind Industries, Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A, informed that the company is working closely with the OEMs in India to develop more cost-effective products. “We will be co-engineering with the OEMs to offer gears and conveyor drives for tracked crushing machines, based on our experience in supplying to tracked plant manufacturers, globally. Since the crushing OEMs and plant owners in India are looking to minimize their capital and operating costs, we will curtail use of redundant components and systems to the extent possible.”
Concurred Sanjay Patwari, Mobility & Wind Industry, Vice President - Sales, Bonfiglioli Transmissions, “We will follow a similar strategy while developing winch drives, swing and travel drives for tower cranes. We have now made our winch drives more flexible, and will be developing more intelligent solutions to enhance equipment functions and for predictive and preventive maintenance. Our new manufacturing unit in Chennai will have increased localization in our products and also cater to our export markets with the support of our engineering and R&D teams. In fact, we are aiming at 80 percent localization in all our new product developments.”
