Remote Mine Chooses Grove RT
A remote mine facility in West Bengal some 12 hours from Kolkata, India, has purchased a new 120t capacity Grove RT9130E. The crane was supplied to Eastern Coalfields which is using it for a variety of operations including handling mechanical equipment such as dumper buckets, hydraulic shovel components, engines etc.
The crane was supplied by TIL, the Grove dealer for India, to replace an older 90t capacity RT crane. It is the second RT9130E in India. Rana Majumder, deputy general manager of marketing at TIL, said the extreme environment of the mine site would not pose any problems.
"The working conditions on the job site are harsh, ranging from 3 degrees C in winter to 50 degrees C in summer," but this crane is rugged enough to cope with both extremes. The customer is very happy with its performance and it continues to help Eastern Coalfields keep the mine running efficiently," hr said.
The crane includes Manitowoc's E-Series cab which keeps the operator focused on the job, by creating a comfortable environment in which to operate the crane. Included in the cab are heating/air-conditioning, adjustable seat, easy-reach controls and a feedback console that provides optimal information on lifting operations.
Maximum main boom for the crane is 48.5m and with the 34m lattice jib extension, maximum reach can be extended to 85m. Power for the crane comes from a 300 hp Cummins engine.
