Cat® Telehandlers to be Offered in Asian Markets
Caterpillar dealers in the countries of China, India, Indonesia, Korea, and Singapore will start receiving shipments of Cat® Telehandlers in September 2009. Initially seven models will be available with maximum lift heights ranging from 5.6 metres to 13.7 metres, and rated load capacities ranging from 2500 kilograms to 4999 kilograms.
"We are extremely pleased to offer well designed, top quality machines to meet the needs of our Asian customers,"said Dan Lee, Telehandler Alliance Manager, Caterpillar, Inc.
"These Telehandlers are robust, versatile machines that provide high levels of productivity on any jobsite,"added Rick Alton, Vice President and General Manager, Caterpillar Alliance Group, JLG Industries, Inc.
The telehandler model line-up includes the Cat models — TH336, TH337, TH406, TH407, TH414, and TH514. These models have load-sensing, flow-sharing hydraulics, and allow all boom functions to be operated simultaneously and proportionally. A limited slip differential fitted in the front axle allows each of the machines to work effectively in tough conditions.
The cabins are spacious and comfortable with good visibility, and feature heating and ventilation systems with optional air conditioning. The single joystick with roller switches is easier to use, and all controls, including auxiliary hydraulics, are fully proportional.
These models include an in-cab LCD to display a wide range of information, including machine speed, operating hours, and error messages. The keypad can be used to select various operating modes, including three different steering modes.
A range of Cat work tools extend the versatility of these machines. A manual IT coupler comes as standard, with the option of a hydraulic quick coupler to allow non-hydraulic work tool changes without leaving the cab.
The final model in the initial offering is the Cat TH255, a super compact telehandler that offers compact dimensions and exceptional manoeuvrability for work in tight areas, round out the models to be available. Its spacious cab, allowing for easier ingress and egress, along with a well-designed cabin that has ample leg space. The single joystick control of hydraulics ease the burden on the operator, and a side-mounted engine allows easier access for maintenance.
The TH255 machines features a hydrostatic transmission with a 56cc variable displacement piston pump and a variable displacement piston motor. The hydrostatic drive allows automotive-style driving with no shifting required and provides for more precise positioning of the materials.
A wide range of work tools can be used in a variety of applications. Operators can choose either a universal-style skid steer loader coupler or a telehandler-style coupler. With either system one can switch work tools to get the most efficiency on the jobsite.
All models include a dedicated longitudinal stability indicator (LSI) for the machines, forward stability that provides a constant and progressive check on the load safety with a cut-out for the extend and lift down functions should the load exceed the recommended limit. The LSI is placed in the operator,s line of sight (upper right corner of the cab) to enhance safety.
All machines are easy to maintain and benefit from Cat dealer support with most parts delivered within 24 hours.
