PRD Geotechnical Rigs are robust, self–propelled crawler-mounted hydraulic rigs with auto trip drop hammer for SPT, with a multipurpose top head drive, which can be used for a wide range of drilling, including coring, rotary drilling, UDS sampling / auguring, SPT, CPT and more.

PRD Geotechnical rigs are designed specifically for Soil Investigation Application. These rigs are compact, yet powerful, and include a 3-speed top head drive gearbox with a hydraulic sliding option, enabling 6-m rod pull out, double winch for tools handling, a high performance water pump, double rod clamp breakout system, automatic SPT hammer system, and top-intake wet swivel. All of these combine for your increased productivity.

For India’s first high speed rail line - the Mumbai - Ahmedabad high speed rail project (HSRP) – which will connect Maharashtra with Gujarat through 12 stations, Larsen and Turbo has won the bid to construct the HSRP Mumbai to Ahmedabad corridor. L&T will have to start with geotechnical investigations to learn about the physical properties of the geological strata that are being considered for the construction.

With our vast experience and technical expertise, we have customised and engineered the PRD GD4 for this application and delivered 8 rigs to L&T Geostructure and L&T Construction, respectively, both of which are running successfully.
