Caterpillar® D-Series Excavators
The new Cat® D-Series medium size hydraulic excavators, from 20 to 35 tonnes, offer customers increased reliability, versatility, performance, and comfort, combined with lower owning and operating costs. The D-Series range has been progressively released in India with 330D introduced in 2006, and the 320D, featuring the new C6.4 ACERT engine, released 2007, while Caterpillar introduced the 325D at Excon 2007.
All enhancements in the D-Series hydraulic excavator range deliver improved reliability, versatility and performance, resulting in lower owning and operating costs for customers.
To match machine performance to job requirements and better manage operating costs, the D-Series hydraulic excavators offer two performance settings. In Standard Mode, the operator can achieve industry-leading production and fuel efficiency levels required for high production applications. For utility work, general construction or in rental applications, the operator can easily switch to Economy Mode, to improve the fuel consumption by as much as 15% with no reduction in digging force.
With D-Series hydraulic oil filter changing intervals now extended to 2000 hours, compared to 1000 hours for the C-Series, operating costs are reduced even further.
Reliable machines minimize downtime and ensure low owning and operating costs. To improve reliability, the D-Series excavators now feature new bucket linkages, reinforced undercarriage recoil springs and ACERT engine technology.
Cat engines with ACERT Technology meet all Stage II standards for off-road diesel engines.
ACERT Technology builds on decades of Caterpillar experience in diesel engine design and manufacturing. It takes advantage of a number of "building block" engine technologies. Some are recent innovations, while others have already proven themselves over millions of hours of use on the job.
The D-Series range offers an array of attachments and configurations with the factory-installed auxiliary hydraulic system including a one-way, high pressure, high flow circuit ideal for Caterpillar Work Tools, such as hammers and vibratory plate compactors.
Caterpillar's range of work tools includes a variety of buckets and hammers that are matched to the machine for optimal performance. For fast work tool changes, quick couplers are also available.
A heavy-duty boom and several stick options equip D-Series machines for any application - trenching, excavating, hammering or general construction.
The D-Series operator station is spacious, quiet and comfortable. An easy-to-adjust suspension seat includes independently adjustable armrests to suit every operator. Effortless lever and pedal controls, coupled with highly efficient, fully automatic climate control ventilation, help to reduce operator fatigue, for day-long productivity.
- 320D is a 20–21.5 tonne excavator that is well suited for construction applications, such as utility works, urban construction, demolition, water and sewage works, hire and rental markets. It stands as one of the most versatile machines in the market.
- 325D is a 27–29 tonne machine ideal for high production truck loading, material handling, quarrying and mining applications. It can be equipped with a long undercarriage option for increased stability and lifting capacity.
- 330D is a 33–35 tonne excavator ideal for heavy construction, quarry and mining applications, including crusher feeding or truck loading. The long undercarriage option is also available for 330D. In addition, the 330D can be fitted with a mass excavation option that can increase production by up to 20%.
