The logistics and warehousing industry in India is rapidly adopting automation solutions to enhance operational speed, efficiency and reduce costs. This growing trend is largely driven by the increasing number of logistics and warehousing companies in India, coupled with the expanding e-commerce sector. The adoption of logistics automation has been proven to streamline the supply chain, minimize manual errors, and reduce overhead costs. Furthermore, the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, GPS, biometrics, and real-time tracking is catalyzing market growth.

The Indian Government has also been implementing several measures to complement automation, including economic reforms and infrastructural developments. The Government's digitization efforts for customs processes for import and export shipments have been exemplary. The introduction of flagship programs like Turant Customs, e-Sanchit, SWIFT, ICEDASH, and ATITHI have simplified and centralized prolonged processes that were prevalent earlier.
The National Logistics Policy (NLP) too has a strong focus on digitalization, bringing transparency through digital integration, boosting speed and efficiency, enabling fast-paced logistics infrastructure development, better coordination among multiple stakeholders, simplifying processes and documentation, and improving last-mile connectivity.
