Circular economy is considered the need of the century as a sustainable future and transformational development will depend on it. OEMs have a huge responsibility towards the concept of circular economy since ultimately, the lifetime of the machines will have to be increased through various methodologies, including reducing and reusing waste.
Government measures
The ‘Waste to Wealth’ scheme is a very wonderful initiative of the Union Government to enhance utilization of resources and thereby reduce waste, earn more revenue – all of which will have a great socio-economic impact on our society. The government should enforce the implementation of this scheme by making it mandatory. It should release the statutory approvals and also offer subsidies and incentives, including easy-to-access financial schemes. Startups in this field should also be encouraged, courses in waste management introduced in schools and colleges, and awareness programs initiated for the public at large.
