The recycling rate of waste in India currently stands at only 18 percent
“The recycling rate of waste in India currently stands at only 18 percent, which is well below the global average of 35 percent.”
Abhijeet Pai, President Puzzolana Group

The Indian Government has been actively formulating policies and promoting projects to drive the country towards a circular economy. It is encouraging the construction industry to use alternative energy sources like solar and wind power, and to reuse plastic and municipal waste. It is also supporting companies that facilitate waste reduction and reuse by offering subsidies. The recycling rate currently stands at only 18 percent, which is well below the global average of 35 percent. The Government aims to reach global levels and is imposing stringent policies for addressing the issues on waste management.

The Construction Industry can contribute towards a circular economy through the following methods:

  • facilitating processing of construction & demolition waste
  • bio mining by screening, classification, log washing etc
  • economising by saving fuel consumption, reducing contamination in oils and reusing oils
  • saving energy using solar power
  • adopting technology for processing steel scrap and industrial waste for re-use in construction of roads, etc.
The recycling rate of waste in India currently stands at only 18 percent

Puzzolana has developed the technology for solid waste processing

We have mobile crawler crushers for crushing C&D waste and segregate steel and rocks. We undertake screening of small size aggregates for reuse and classification of sand and fines for land filling and levelling. Our crawler screens are modified to handle municipal waste for segregation of plastic and manure and other waste materials.

Puzzolana offers a free Training & Certification Programme for its customers and employees in systematic operations and maintenance. We follow the Skill Development Council’s norms for training of technical (ITI personnel) in the operation and maintenance of construction machines, and we give recommendations for certification by the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council.
