bC India 2014 : All Set to Start for A Big Draw
The most awaited bauma Conexpo Show - bC India 2014 is all set to start from December 15 to 18, 2014 at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida/Delhi. After the culmination of two consecutive successful events in Mumbai, the show has moved to North India. This is happening for the first time ever that a major show of construction equipment and machinery is taking place in the Northern part of the country. "We sensed to look at the new venue of Greater Noida to exploit the untapped market of the North India to the hilt," says Mr. Igor Palka, CEO, bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd.
bC India has developed into one of the most important business to business trade fairs for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles in the Middle East and India after just two editions. The show's 3rd edition is taking place at a time when the market is witnessing northward trends and anticipating brighter biz prospect ahead. This year around 710 companies are expecting to exhibit their hitech, latest and advanced technologies on an area of over 170,000 square meters of premium exhibition space (28,000 square meters of modern indoor space and 142,000 square meters of outdoor presentation space). The exhibitors are coming from over 33 countries including national pavilions from China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, U.K. and the USA. The main product categories that will be exhibited include: All around construction sites, mining, extraction and processing of raw materials, production of building materials and component and service suppliers. These categories cover almost all sections of the equipment segment and will be presented by both the international as well as domestic key players of the industry.
The theme of the show this year is 'Quality makes the Difference'. The organizer has planned to increase the quality of the show by not only adding a high quality supporting program with different kind of presentations, panel discussions and training sessions, like for example health-and-safety workshops or training sessions but also talking about emerging markets and how the innovative products of the exhibitors can be beneficial for other markets. According to Mr. Palka, "I am sure that our supportive associations will again contribute and hold interesting and well-casted seminars parallel to the exhibition. But the real new and interesting things will be provided by our exhibitors showing their newest equipment. This year, we will see several new launches of innovative products and also live demonstration."
As all seems to end well as the sentiment of the market is improving, it is believed that the show has come at the right time and all the participants are very optimistic and looking forward to contribute not just in keeping the success story intact but also ensuring that the event scales newer heights. Manitowoc

The new topless models include the latest design for better on-site placement, allowing contractors to situate more cranes on projects, to speed construction. Raman Joshi, managing director of Manitowoc Cranes India, says "The new topless cranes which will be a major highlight at bC India, are easy to erect, highly efficient and very reliable - the three major requirements of crane users across the country. The new tower cranes, together with other displays on our booth, will show visitors that how we are true leaders in lifting."
Potain MCT 205
The MCT 205 tower crane has a 10t maximum capacity and can lift 1.75 t at its maximum jib end of 65 m. With a focus on fast erection, the complete upper works for the MCT 205 can be assembled in four lifts. The heaviest group of components is just 7.9 t and the full 65 m jib can be placed in a single lift. Attention has been paid to transportation too, with three jib sections able to fit inside a standard container.
Potain MCT 85
The second model in the Potain line-up of new topless cranes is the MCT 85. Smaller than the MCT 205, it has a 5 t maximum capacity and an ability to lift 1.1 t at its jib end of 52 m. This practical unit is efficiently easy to transport, needing just two trucks for the entire top portion of the crane.
Again, on-site assembly is simplified thanks to the pre-assembly work done at the Potain factory in Pune before the crane is delivered to the customer. For example, the counterjib and towerhead are assembled as a single component and can be lifted as such. Connecting the jib is quick and easy, facilitated through the use of pin-connectors. This means the entire upperworks of the MCT 85 is connected in just two sections.
Like the MCT 205, the MCT 85 can be operated as an internal climbing crane, sitting inside the building it is constructing. Mounted on 1.2 m mast sections, the crane offers a maximum free-standing height of 33.2 m when operating internally.

This is an advanced ground monitoring system through which the basic setup such as tower crane data, prohibited zone, obstacle, site boundary height changes etc can be configured/changed and uploaded to all cranes simultaneously by wireless communication system. Elaborating on the features of this global standard product he apprises, Kaushik-Cesan Asphalt batch mix plants are designed for maximum efficiency and minimum operation cost. The plant can reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and improve efficiencies by reducing fuel consumption with its completely self-designed dryer which operates in basic principle heat transfer to the aggregate. For each tonne of asphalt a minimum 1 litre of fuel can be saved.
Any sort of liquid (fuel-oil, diesel) natural gas or LPG can be used in the asphalt plants. Operating cost is low because of low energy needed, optimized fuel consumption, long life of system units and minimized maintenance needs. The operation of the plant can be controlled continuously through the computer monitor on the operator table manually, semi-automatically and automatically. Apart from these, modular structure of the products provides easy erection and replacement in a very short time."

It's definitely a proactive thought and should get all the backing it needs. In my view, it needs to be firstly backed by the necessary modifications in rules and regulations that make it easy to setup and do business in India. This if done well will encourage companies like ours to further invest and work more closely with the Indian CE OEMs. This will make them globally competitive and that can only be a good thing.
Growth Overview of CE industry & Murphy Business
We, at Murphy, see good days ahead for the Indian CE and Mining industry. Technology acceptance is going to be a key in making our equipment globally competitive. I see no reason why Indian home grown companies can't be globally recognized manufacturers. In the next 3 to 5 years, we will see more Indian companies getting things right and growing at the rate of 8 - 10% YOY, which I beleive is very much possible. With the new Government, sentiments are improving but the impact of this change is still not visible on the ground. We feel it will take some more time to see visible changes in the demand pattern.

An important thing which is essential to make this program a success is the ability of the local manufacturers to rise to the challenge of producing world-class machines and to pass on the benefits of local production to the actual buyers. Often it is witnessed that the industry is not able to take benefits of the government's patronization due to its inability to honestly pass on the benefits to the consumers.
Growth Overview of CE industry & Vipul Business
Construction Equipment industry currently is going through a very tough phase due to unfavorable conditions. Large scale delays, rising interest costs, undercutting and policy paralysis on part of the previous governments, have led to severe liquidity crunch being faced by the construction companies and it is a challenge specially for the bigger players who have multiple projects to survive the period. Lack of prudent financial policies and overleveraging has resulted in drying up of funds in the system as financial institutions are not able to recover their dues and are hesitant to provide additional funding to old projects or starting new ones. The housing has a unique streamlined curved design made from high impact composite. This material is incredibly durable. It's virtually dent and rust proof, which extends the life of the unit, especially in the harsh elements. These units are easy to service. As part of the housing, the panels on both sides extend the full length of the unit providing for easy and complete service access."
Borrowing from the automotive industry, the LTN 6L is the first light tower to utilize a stamped 10-gauge steel tub base which provides superior strength and full protection from ground debris. "The fully enclosed base is also crucial in reducing sound emissions. "The LTN 6L sound level is as low as 66 dBA at 7 m which is an impressive number." This steel tub base and all other metal components including the inner mast sections and outriggers are protected by durable powder coated paint, and all external hardware are zinc dichromate treated for extreme rust resistance.
Wacker Neuson's light tower comes equipped with distinctive elliptical light fixtures which offer a diffused and even illumination without glare. The lights can be manually adjusted without tools. The light fixtures come preinstalled at the factory, reducing set up time. The LTN 6L offers a 13.4-hp Lombardini diesel engine that operates very quiet. It is equipped with a 6 kW generator, large capacity 123 l fuel tank for up to 68 hours of operating time and the 9 m adjustable tower also rotates 360-degrees for light adjustment once the mast is raised. The mast mounted base winch improves operator ergonomics by allowing the operator to raise the mast without bending. The Allround bridging systems are the ideal complements to Layher Allround equipment with just few additional components, the load-bearing capacity of the proven Allround systems can be increased enough to create for example, wide- span footbridges or support structure for heavy loads.
The Allround Bridging system is a modular truss system that can be adapted to the respective application. The posts of the Allround Bridging Systems have wedge heads welded to the side, to which standards of the Allround equipment can be fastened. As a result, the Allround Bridging Systems can be combined with Allround equipment, offering a wide range of possible uses. A complete integration into an Allround Scaffolding structure (e.g. to transfer high loads or for bridging of wide spans) is also possible. The individual components of the Layher Allround Bridging System are connected in a time-saving way using bolts of diameter 30 mm. The connection to the Allround equipment is made using the proven Allround wedge head connection.
Innovative supplementary component: even unsupported bridging structures with a span of up to 30 meters can be completed, or high loads can be supported thanks to the modular All-round bridging system from Layher
A standard Layher bridge structure mainly comprises two loads transferring Allround Bridging Systems which are arranged parallel to one another at a defined distance, depending on the required bridge width. A stable bridge supporting structure is obtained with an internal Allround scaffolding structure fastened between the two Allround Bridging Systems. The stiffening in the transverse direction and hence the stabilization of the Allround Bridging Systems is achieved with horizontally arranged bracing in the Allround structure. The bridge decking and the guard rails are fastened to the internal Allround scaffolding structure. The entire bridge structure - both bridging units in combination with internal Allround Scaffolding - is finally supported at the bridge ends. The support can for example be on individual Layher heavy-duty supports integrated into a separate stairway access. In some cases, it is also possible to support the end posts of the bridge directly on existing foundations, beams or walls.
With the new development of "Allround bridging system" Layher offers the optimal solution for the construction of a more than hundred metres long pedestrian crossing with free spanned bridge elements of 31 metres.

Application of Allround Bridging Systems
When a footbridge is built, the Allround bridging systems are connected to Allround standards using the wedge-heads provided on the sides of post. Depending on the application, either event decks or steel decks can be used. These support elements permit pre-assembly on the ground and subsequent insertion by crane, which is a major advantage when spanning bridge across roads.
As a replacement for the closed bridge, the construction of a temporary pedestrian crossing was ordered which was to cross the road and railway parallel to the existing bridge. Tasks of this nature generally require project-oriented and therefore expensive special constructions. With the innovation from Layher, scaffolders can now offer this service much more efficiently with only a few additional components to the Allround system. After a successful appearance in Davos at the World Economic Forum, the use of the Allround bridging system for this project with supporting spans of up to 31 metres was also the optimal solution.
In order to derange traffic on this highly frequented route as little as possible, the construction was pre-assembled on the ground. To bridge road and river, provisions were made for two sections of 31 metres each. To compensate deflexion, these were constructed thanks to the lengthwise adjustable diagonal brace with a slight cant. Within only five minutes, the builders in charge were now able to place the two parts of the bridge onto the supports by means of a crane: during the afternoon over the river, and at night - during a short complete closure - over the motorway. One day, one night - and the bridge is completed for duration of approximately four to six months. Accesses as well as the middle section were, thanks to full compatibility, constructed with the Allround scaffolding.

The slab system is with the drop head system where one can achieve slab cycles of 4-5 days as well. Now slab plates are also available with plastic steel combination. This is a very good initiative by our new Union Government. For the past few years we have seen CE Industry proposing such initiatives to the governments, but they would fizzle out midway due to reasons beyond our control. They could be political, bureaucratic etc.
The 'Make in India' programme will contribute to the impetus the CE Industry has been looking for. The benefits of such a programme shall be many in terms of employment generation, additional capex and probably most importantly offering our customers world class products which will be made in India. But then, the markets too have to open up.
Growth Overview of CE industry & Sicoma Business
If you look at the growth graph of CE Industry over the last 2 decades, you would see growth peaking and at its best between 2005 to 2008. Since then we have seen mixed responses/reactions by CE Industry to market situations. Sicoma in India was incorporated in 2007, and we have been through tough times as well. I hope we have seen the worst. Since SMIPL's incorporation in India, we have supplied 300+ Mixers, expanded our capacities and are on track with a firm growth plan for the future. This is testimony to the fact that Sicoma is committed to the Indian market.
With a stable government in place, I am sure situations should change for better. We have already seen signs of market revival in the months of Aug, Sep & Oct'14.

Proven, reliable design ensures continuous precision by means of a rigid press frame with accurate guiding system and advanced valve technology which delivers the correct fill height to the mould.
In-process measuring technology monitors and controls production quality by continuously checking, and, if necessary, adjusting the block height and the force required for correct compacting of the sand-lime-water mixture.
Block heights of up to 350 mm are the speciality of the compact KSE press, developed especially for low heights of construction and foundation pits. It is used both for the production of traditional sand-lime blocks and - in a number of countries - for the production of blocks with aggregates (e.g. fly ash and slag).
The press design guarantees ease of access. The hydraulic drive is mounted on floor level. Filling device, mould box and block removal device are all integrated in a hydraulically driven compact component. The block removal is facilitated by a lifting device of high sensitivity.
An optimum cycle time is achieved by simultaneous execution of various operations, such as filling the mould box and removing the green blocks.
Depending on the size of the KSE press, up to 34 blocks (KSE 1250) may be pressed in one stroke. The programmable control system stores all quality parameters. Setting up the machine for different block formats and raw material mixtures is unproblematic. The quality of the sand-lime blocks produced meets the German standard DIN 106.

Goldhofer Aktiengesellschaft - the world market leader in the field of transport technologies brings revolution in self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) segment with the introduction of the new PST/ES-E Heavy-Duty Modules.The new generation comprises three heavy-duty modular transporters: the PST/ES-E 6 (315) with an axle load of 45 t, the PST/ES-E (285) with electronic multiway steering and hydraulically adjustable track width, and the PST/ES-E (385), the first modular transporter with an axle load of 60 t.
With a track width of 1810 mm, the PST/ES-E (285) has 24% greater lateral stability than a conventional SPMT with a track width of 1450 mm. With a basic width of 2430 mm, it can be quickly transported to the next job and offers optimum maneuverability - with less manpower than is normally the case.
The PST/ES-E (385) is designed for ultra-heavy loads and offers the optimum payload/axle load ratio - with standard truck tires. And that is one of the keys: All the new self-propelled modules can be fitted with standard low loader or truck tires in 215, 285, 315, and 385 mm widths. In addition, due to the +/-135° steering angle and the larger tire contact area, tire wear is significantly reduced. As drive units, there is a choice of four PowerPacks with a rated output of 150, 207, 360 and 390 kW, two of which are already in compliance with the new TIER IV Final Standard. A hybrid drive is also available as an optional.
"Goldhofer's new SPMT generation is also superior to conventional SPMTs with regard to such decisive parameters as capacity, bending moment, speed and tractive force," says Jean-Philippe Martin. Due to the new drive system, travel speed has increased by between 30 and 100%, while tractive force is up by 27.5% and lateral stability is up to 24% higher. "These factors and also the lower mobilization costs are a source of real added value," Jean-Philippe Martin points out. For Stefan Fuchs, one thing is clear: "With our new PST/ES-E modules in the SPMT segment, we have proved once again that Goldhofer is the world market leader in terms of technology, quality and value retention."

Sand is one of the most important ingredients in deciding the strength and quality of concrete. Experts have recommended technical parameters and methods to judge the quality of sand. Fineness Module (FM) of sand is one such important parameter in judging quality of sand.
Materials which can be crushed to make sand are limestone, granite, basalt, gravel, andesite, sandstone, silica, and quartzite. In short, any sound stone used for construction material can be crushed to produce sand.

Custom Engineered Equipment for Sand Manufacturing
REMco Sandmax VSI is exclusively designed to produce sand and other fine products. It produces manufactured sand from hard abrasive rock at an affordable cost. It can be custom engineered to meet specific sand production requirements. Typically the power consumption in a REMco VSI is in the range of 1 to 1.4 HP per ton which is quite close to the power cost of a tertiary cone. The REMco VSI offers shape and grade advantage and the material goes 100% through the rotor whether it is "Rock on Rock" or "Rock on Anvil" design. The flexibility of the rotor speed, type of chamber and rotor offers greater control on gradation.
PROMAN-REMco VSIs are crushers and not just shapers. Better design and material technology guarantee lesser wear-cost per ton. REMco VSIs are easy to maintain as they can be serviced from top. The tips are "insert" type unlike the traditional "bolt on" type used by others. Lubrication is also easy as greasing can be done through centralized greasing block.
Dual Purpose Aggregate Plant
The plant for concrete sand manufacturing that meets the IS: 383 (Zone I and II) specifications requires an elaborate flow circuit design. The equipment consists of surge bin, feeder, automation, screen, washing and blending gates. Surge bin is necessary to provide a ready large quantity of new feed to the crusher.
A feeder is essential as it controls the rate of new feed introduced to the sand circuit. A feeder allows optimum and continuous flow or new feed. In the last 12 months, we have come up with a complete range of trailer mounted concrete pump BSA eSmart namely; the BSA 1404 D, BSA 1405 D, and BSA 1407 D. As mentioned above, Putzmeister machines are smarter now and apart from being environment-friendly, It also largely focusses on the human and machine safety. The emergency switch on the control panel is very easy to access. It stops the entire operation of the machine when pressed in case of an emergency. The RSA - which is the grill safety switch, keeps the pump and agitator from working if the hopper grill is open, thereby avoiding accidents and ensuring the safety of the operator.
Also, Putzmeister's NG BSF 36-4 is equipped with delivery cylinders of 230 mm diameter, which the company proudly names 'Big Mouth'. Its cylinders of 230 mm diameter are 32% more efficient in filling the pipeline than its smaller counterparts with a diameter of 200 mm. During pumping, suction is enabled to the cylinder and then pushed out through the pipeline. The suction is particularly difficult in the boom pump since the cylinders are positioned upwards to accommodate the truck axel. The usage of the 230 mm diameter cylinders leads to a better suction efficiency of the concrete which results in a better filling ratio. This is imperative with rough concrete. The "Big Mouth" solution reduces running costs, diesel consumption, maintenance cost on wear and tear parts for every cubic meter pumped.
EBAWE’s First Carrousel Plant Delivered in India for Precast Concrete Panels
For the erection of the huge housing complex "New Haven" in Bangalore, Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. invested in state-of-the-art technology from Germany. For the delivery and installation of an automated precast factory, the market-leading supplier EBAWE Anlagentechnik was charged. The plant is utilized for the manufacture of solid wall and floor panels and is the first carrousel system of its kind in India.
The New Haven project has a built-up area of 1.7 million square feet and comprises 35 towers in total. It is a green township and designed by internationally acclaimed architects from the USA. With the new precast plant, about 70 flats will be erected per month.
The whole precast panel production is controlled, supervised and optimized by the universal manufacturing execution system ebos®.
EBAWE convinced not only with the right solution as global contractor but also met the very short deadline. The project started in July 2013 and the first precast elements were manufactured 6 months later after the long shipment of 2 months.
