"It was minus 10 degree temperature in Munich on 19 January 2016 but as soon as I entered the Messe Munchen exhibition center for Media Dialog, the atmosphere/ambience inside the hall was entirely different from outside, and people were looking quite energetic, warmth and welcoming," reports S.A.Faridi from Ground Zero. Over 200 exhibitors had assembled to have one on one talk with the trade journalists, came from across the world to learn and report what new and innovative one can expect at bauma, the heartbeart of CE Industry and world's leading Trade Fair for Construction, Building Materials, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment, set to take place for the 31st time in Munch from 11-17 April 2016.
Being a global driving force behind innovations, an engine for success and a marketplace, bauma is the only trade fair in the world that brings together the industry for construction machinery in its entire breadth and depth. This platform presents the highest concentration of innovations—making your visit an event to remember. It attracts visitors from over 200 countries every three years. This is a platform where international key players meet. This is where significant new developments are presented. This is where suppliers and solutions come together perfectly. At bauma, one can experience the construction-machinery industry in its entirety. Record-breaking numbers in 2013 include 575,000 square meters of exhibit space, 3,421 exhibitors, and 535,065 visitors. This year you can expect more.
The upcoming fair features a new service: For the first time ever, companies that are on the waiting list and have not yet been assigned space can have themselves listed in the bauma directory. The companies then participate without stand space, although they will be included as additionally represented companies in the online exhibitor directory and will be listed under their respective product categories. They also have access to a special lounge, so they can make appointments and hold meetings there during the fair. In addition to lead management, they can also book other services such as electronic press compartments or advertising alternatives.
One reason for this step is that the upcoming bauma is already booked to capacity; there are already waiting lists for several sectors. Naturally, Klaus Dittrich, CEO of Messe München, is pleased with the feedback from interested companies, although he also understands the related difficulties: "Just like in 2013, we have been unable to satisfy all the requests for space or for increases in space." Naturally, the company does what it can to allow as many companies as possible to adequately participate in the fair. Unfortunately, it has reached its maximum capacity with regard to space. Dittrich explains the idea behind the new participation alternative: "We want to give companies that we have been unable to accommodate in the past an opportunity to call the bauma community's attention to themselves and their products and to make contacts during the fair."
Growth in Traditional Markets
Last year, North America and Europe were the most dynamic construction machinery markets in the world. And according to market experts, this trend could continue. This is one of the reasons why the market in construction machinery and building materials machinery is in an upbeat mood, despite all the political uncertainties.
The industry associations are seeing good prospects for the construction machinery and building machinery market in the current global market. Things are going well for the customers, the building industry is growing, and demand is there—not only in Europe, but above all worldwide. According to the industry associations, China—the world's biggest market for construction machinery—will stabilize in the current year, although initially at a low level. Also picking up, alongside the traditional markets, are the markets of the Near and Middle East.
The market in India, too, according to sector insiders, should also move forward again. Off-Highway Research are expecting sales of construction machinery by latest 2016, to regain the highest level reached so far, in 2011. In that year 72,000 units were sold. By 2018, the analysts predict that sales will rise continuously to in the region of 97,000 units. The products most in demand on the sub-continent remain the same as today: backhoe loaders, crawler-excavators, mobile cranes, mobile compressors, compaction equipment and wheel loaders.

For the exhibitors and visitors taking part in bauma, this is an encouraging outlook.
Mining: manufacturers hope a turnaround in sales
The Mining Association, affiliated in the German Engineering Federation, the VDMA, is again reporting falling sales. Nevertheless, it is optimistic that 2017 will bring a return to profit. As regards the global market, too, the analysts are expecting things to improve in 2016 and 2017.
The VDMA Mining Association expects that demand for the metallic but also mineral raw materials extracted in hard-rock mining will increase substantially as a result of a global expansion in alternative methods of energy production. Another reason for this cautious optimism, says Schulte Strathaus, is in the need for raw material producers to reduce costs: "In order to achieve profits in the current low-price environment, they have to increase the efficiency of their machinery and plant, and thereby reduce their costs." A global trend towards increasing safety also benefits the sector, he reports. Many countries, like China and Turkey, were busy making their coal mines safer. And as regards the technology required for this, the German mining industry—at least in underground mining—Germany is the global leader.
The sector seems to be regaining optimism in time for bauma and that is being backed up by the registrations coming in from exhibitors in this area. Mareile Kästner, Exhibition Director of bauma, explains: "The current difficult situation in the sector is not being reflected in the registration figures for exhibitors at bauma. The interest from mining companies and manufacturers of mining products in exhibiting at bauma is still very high."

A Few Important Participating Companies
Manitowoc to celebrate innovation and growth at bauma 2016
Manitowoc Cranes will present a host of products, including several notable innovations, on its stand at this year's bauma 2016 trade show. The event will mark the first time the company participates in a major trade show as a standalone company following the separation of Manitowoc Cranes and Manitowoc Foodservice from The Manitowoc Company, which is scheduled to occur in the first quarter of 2016.
Larry Weyers, executive vice president of Manitowoc Cranes, said bauma 2016 will be a landmark event for the company. "We are excited to be at bauma 2016 for the first time as an independent business and at the start of a new chapter in the history of Manitowoc Cranes. But some things haven't changed. For us, our customers remain our primary priority and, in particular, we are focused on helping them achieve more. As a company we talk about our desire to "Build Something Real" and that means delivering real benefits to our customers in five key areas. Those are: return on investment; performance; quality and reliability; customer support; and agility - which means building cranes that customers need. At bauma 2016 we will be showing customers how we are making advances in each of those areas. And this helps them "Build Something Real," he said.
New additions from Manitowoc Cranes at bauma 2016 include some surprises that the company will reveal at the show. Elsewhere there is a new Grove rough-terrain crane, again the first from a newly announced range, plus two new Grove all-terrain cranes. In addition, there will be a crane from the completely new range of MDT CCS tower cranes.
The Grove rough-terrain crane is the GRT8100, and it is among the first new Grove crane designs since the company introduced its pioneering Product Verification Center (PVC) at its factory in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, U.S. The PVC allows Manitowoc to conduct unparalleled levels of testing on components, which, in turn, drives the development of more productive and more reliable cranes which deliver better value to customers. At present, Manitowoc is the only crane manufacturing company operating a facility like the PVC.

Potain cranes will also feature strongly on the Manitowoc Cranes booth with both self-erecting cranes, including the popular Igo M 14 which launched at bauma 2013, and top-slewing units on show. From the top-slewing line, the company will show its MR 418 luffing jib crane alongside the MDT 389and MDT 219.The MR 418 was first shown at CONEXPO 2014 and its appearance at bauma 2016 also marks its European premier.
Both the MR 418 and MDT 389 are notable for their capacity and size, which allow contractors to make significant cost and time savings on projects. With a maximum capacity of 24 t, the MR 418 is one of the largest luffing jib cranes from Potain. While the MDT 389, with a 16 t maximum capacity, is the largest crane in the new CCS topless range. The MDT 219 is the largest model in the new MDT CCS City Crane range and is available in either an 8 t version or a 10 t version.
In addition to highlighting its products, Manitowoc will also be showcasing its range of value-added support services. These include Manitowoc Crane Care, its industry-leading customer support division; EnCORE, its refurbishment and remanufacturing arm; Lift Solutions, its in-house engineering team that handles special customer requests for machinery, products or lifts; and Manitowoc Finance, its funding arm. These services are all designed to help Manitowoc crane owners get the most from their purchase and the fastest possible rates of customer payback.

Trimble to Demonstrate the Construction Continuum at bauma 2016
Trimble's mix of hardware, software and mobility technologies streamlines communication and collaboration throughout the construction lifecycle. Connecting people, machines and projects delivers real-time data to infrastructure owners, engineering firms and civil contractors for enhanced information about material, people and asset utilization, resulting in improved productivity. For years, construction companies have realized the benefits of modeling software. These days it's fairly typical to see companies using software to take third-party information from a design package and create a model for use in the field. The next generation of civil engineering and construction software will provide a much broader scope of capabilities.
At bauma 2016, Trimble will show the process and benefits to building a Construction-ready Model with rich "intelligent" data that can serve as the foundation of how contractors plan and execute construction projects. With intelligent modeling, users will be able to add and remove information in real time while simultaneously looking at multiple ways to perform construction work instead of making manual modifications. The ability to build construction-ready models is significant because it will enable designers and engineers to run multiple scenarios quickly and easily that accurately translate to a constructible model that contractors can effectively build against.

Civil Building Information Modeling (BIM) and building a Construction-ready Model
Pairing this sort of interactive modeling with 'intelligent' data frees engineers and architects to quickly analyze changes and "what if" design scenarios in the context of the physical environment. The potential impact is huge for saving time on rework, accelerating the building phase, and ultimately producing higher-quality projects.
Trimble continues to expand its Connected Site® capabilities to provide enhanced, rich, real-time information and data in the field, in the office and throughout the project. This extended capability better enables contractors to achieve faster project completion with reduced costs, improved safety and reduced environmental impact.
At bauma 2016, Trimble will demonstrate and reinforce how Connected Site solutions transform the workflows of grading and excavating contractors, paving contractors, drilling and piling contractors, and site and utility contractors. Demonstrations will cover site data management, productivity management, and tracking and inspection, focusing on how contractors can check site productivity anytime from anywhere.

The two new additions are accompanied by the experienced WOLFF 8033 cross of the 450 mt class. Its impressive lifting capacity paired with extremely easy assembly, comparable with the assembly of a model in the 300 mt range, make this WOLFF one of the most popular saddle jib cranes in XXL class.
Palfinger-A Technological Pacesetter for Hydraulic Lifting and Work Systems

Designed for carrier vehicles with a maximum permissible gross vehicle weight of 32 tonnes, the PK 165.002 TEC 7 achieves a new dimension in terms of weight saving. The PK 165.002 TEC 7 combines extraordinary strength with a large reach, yet is 800 kg lighter than its predecessor, the PK 150.002.
PALFINGER is the first crane manufacturer to offer a personal protection mode for loader cranes and is thus an absolute pioneer when it comes to safety. Once again, the company is getting top marks in construction material transport with the innovative L-crane model series. In addition to familiar features such as a 440° slewing angle and an excellent loading height, the technical innovations in the L-crane series are impressive: slewing gear mounted in an oil bath, internally routed hoses and an ergonomically optimized top seat with new joystick control. These characteristics improve the efficiency of the day-to-day handling of building materials and are a strong argument for the new L series.

Comer Industries: Excellence, Innovation and Boosted Efficiency for Integrated Power Transmission Solutions

Comer's focus on customers brought major advancements in field tests with gauged and monitored vehicles: several OEMs had already planned to introduce Comer Industries' solutions in their new Tier 4 Final vehicles. These machines, equipped with Comer Industries' complete driveline systems, will be on show at bauma 2016: Atlas Weyhausen's new Soil Compactor AW1070 and Thaler's new 200 series Compact Wheel Loader are two examples of a successful cooperation.
Comer Industries' new solutions on display at bauma include advanced transmissions such as:
S-46 HYDRO axle (patent pending) for compact wheeled vehicles-The standard axle S-046 has been modified in order to host a hydrostatic radial motor in line with the input shaft and allowing four wheel drive connection. The new system solution provides better machine performances compared to the current market solutions and improved drive line layout by reducing installation room needed under the vehicle.
System composed of axle F-128 and planetary drive PG-161 for soil compactors- Comer Industries has developed and implemented a complete driveline system solution for the single drum soil compactors. This drive package incorporates a wheel drive for the front drum and a planetary drive combined with the rear axle to propel the wheels on the rear of the machine. The rear axle drive-line assures a high reduction ratio combined with a low space impact under the vehicle.
Comer Industries will also be introducing the new Rotating housing drive PGR-3600 for construction equipment.
