The state government in Himachal Pradesh is all set to start the construction of an all weather road across Parangla into Himachal Pardesh with round the year access to Leh, Ladakh, said official sources, claiming that the road is also aimed to boost economic and trade activities in the Ladakh region. A preliminary project, the documents reveals, for the construction of road from Karzok in Leh District to Kibber in Lahoul Spiti, has been formulated at an estimated cost of rupees Rs. 80-cr under Central Road Fund. In this connection, BEACON has forwarded a pre-feasibility report for construction of 6.12 km long tunnel on Chowkibal-Tangdar-Chamkot road. Ministry of defence, the report mentions, has listed the proposal under priority-II and that the detailed feasibility works of the tunnel has been planned for this year.
