NHAI plans Rs. 16,000cr for Naxal infested areas

Injecting a major infrastructural booster to the Naxal infested areas, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set aside a whopping investment plans worth Rs. 16,000cr for the 12th Plan period. Under the newly chalked out plans, the nodal agency has focused on providing greater employment opportunities to locals in these areas during the construction of road network and in addition to this, the move will also push economic activities in these areas to new highs. In addition to this, the Planning Commission has also prepared a roadmap to build a complete road network of 4,426km in the left wing extremism affected zones before the end of 2015 financial year. Since building roads in these areas is financially unviable, the government is extending full budgetary support to push equitable socio-economic development and bringing the inhabitants of these areas into the national mainstream.
