Srei Infra earmarks Rs. 8,000cr for infrastructure

The Kolkata based Srei Infrastructure Finance company has drawn up plans to invest Rs. 8000 crore in its various infrastructure projects during the current financial year. The company, which is currently busy identifying projects for investment has decided to raise  required funds through a combination of debt and External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs).

Dwelling further on the subject, he added that the company’s targeted investment in the sector for the fiscal is a bit lower as it had disbursed about Rs. 9000 crore during the last financial year.  During the current fiscal, it is very selective in its investment plans as infra financing is a long-term return business and has become lucrative after the government has opened huge investment opportunities across the country.

Srei Infra finances bridge and road projects, besides financing independent and captive power projects.  It also invests funds in small and medium sized power projects and equipment in power sector, port equipment, private berths and container handling jetties in the port sector. Its huge infrastructure finance business has recorded revenue of Rs. 3,243.38 crore during the just ended quarter as compared to Rs. 1,532.70 crore it recorded during the corresponding period in the last fiscal.
