Adani adding Rs. 80,000cr capacity addition

Adani Power in a recent move has drawn up plans to add power generation capacity to the tune of 16,000mw in the next three to four years entailing an investment of Rs. 80,000cr. The company is currently going all out to attain a capacity of over 10,000mw by March 2013 and will attain the targeted capacity by December 2014.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ravi Sharma, the company will achieve the targeted power generation with the commissioning of six projects thereby taking the capacity to over 16,000 mw. The Adani Power, which has to date commissioned two units of the Mundra Power project with generation capacity of 660 mw, has already tied up funds for most of the upcoming projects. In view of capacity generation, the Mundra project is the largest power plant in the country with a total power generation capacity of 4,620mw.
Apart from Mundra the company is also setting up projects at Tiroda in Maharashtra, Kawai in Rajasthan, Bhadreshwar in Gujarat and Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh and all these power projects will be commissioned by December 2014. The Adani Group with front and back end electricity business is also the largest importer of coal for supply to its power generation units and to secure future fuel supply it recently acquired Australia’s Linc Energy in a cash and royalty deal with Australian $2.9 billion amounting to Rs. 12,000 crore, he added.
