L&T secures Rs. 1,195cr civil contracts

The construction and engineering giant, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) in a recent achievement has secured two consecutive orders worth Rs. 1,195cr from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for carrying out civil and construction related works at Hazira and Uran.

According to official sources, the ONGC has awarded the contract at Hazira to build gas processing facilities to add to its capacities by 5.6 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) at its existing complex. However the new facilities will include a gas sweetening unit, gas dehydration unit, dew point depression unit, offsite and utilities. The scope of work includes project management, construction and engineering related works and handing over the new processing unit to the owner.

The construction giant had earlier built an onshore gas processing complexes for Reliance Industries at Kakinada and for Cairon Energy at Barmer. With new orders in its kitty, will significantly boost the customers' confidence in the L&T's capability to execute large orders in the onshore gas processing arena and will bring more such orders as gas has great growth potential in the country, he claimed.
